Trump..... (The Sophistry Thread)

A long read, and pay walled but my Firefox in private tab and then refreshed gets through to the full article.
In short, a road map almost for Trump (or Trump types) is sort of terrifying. Who knew Hitler vowed to drain the "swamp", threatened to turn the army on German citizens and on and on.
I actually don't think Trump wants to or will go that far...but who knows on the Bannons and others jockeying in the background

Well that was entirely depressing. I think there are a lot of similarities to the way Trump and those around him exploit democracy to gain positions where they can influence who has access to it and how. He will undoubtedly look to make enduring changes that service him and his allies well into the future. Let’s hope his ‘mass deportation’ exercise doesn’t escalate to mimic Hitler’s other memorable manoeuvre.

She really is a steaming pile of shit.
I like her choice of hats...

The two issues that I am watching the closest* are whether the FBI gets to properly vet White House staff, and the conversation on presidential term limits. My guess is that he won't go for a third term as he's just too old and I can't see him wanting to work that hard into his 80s. I will not be the slightest bit surprised if I'm proved wrong, though.

*In general that is, not in any relationship with him being Adolf 2.0

The US constitution (22nd Amendment, 1947) prohibits any president serving more than two terms, whether consecutive or separate. Trump cannot legally nominate for a third term. Probably won't stop him trying unless he's dead by then....

With him now being a convicted felon, does that mean the key to the big red nuke button and all the TS discussions around such issues will be left with the responsible adults for safe keeping?

Yes..., I'm referring to the likelihood of him working to change that. And within that thought is the assumption that he's not going to constrain himself with trivialities such as the law.

I might be wrong, but I don't believe that the president requires a clearance. Members of Senate Select Committees that deal with national security don't need them, so I can't see the pres. needing one.

I'd argue that his theft and mishandling of classified material would be the most convincing argument for him not having access to anything more than half a handful of Play Doh (away from the carpet).

perhaps it is just a marketing ploy for donations?,
But whoever in the Trump-Vance transition "said in a press release that the portraits "go hard"." ...has issues..
