Warburton trail updates

Was just about to post the same thing... Mate who knows some of the locals was telling me this on the weekend ..
It's been a constant struggle for 20years out there...The trails are better off unsanctioned anyway
Wild. Any idea why the workers were told to put tools down? Fingers crossed the council isn't getting cold feet.

Not at all informed on the issues but there's currently a court case "Warburton Environment VS DEECA" relating to fauna deaths from improper logging practice which may be indirectly impacting the trail work commencing

Unrelated. That's about the logging that DEECA are doing under the guise of building firebreaks.

Can't have a bush fire if you cut all the bush down.

ive been back in melbourne working for a few weeks but heading there this weekend , will see if i can find out more,

I did hear they had set up a site office or something similar at the wesburn footy oval near the pump track a few weeks back
How'd it go over the weekend? Any movements out there?

it was so wet , i didnt get out and ride the local trails which is where i usually run into the locals that are right in the loop ,

But i did have a bit of a pedal on the rail trail on the sat morning to try and keep some fitness up and called into wesburn oval as i went past, they have 6 or 7 excavators , a bobcat with a fork attachment to move pallets , heaps of pallets labelled world trail , with those flat rocks that they use on the trails , 3 or 4 big shipping containers with what i assume to have tools and stuff inside .

So all in all they look fairly committed to working there with all that stuff onsite I would assume

I heard since I last posted , talking to a local out on the trails ,

They ran into a little bit of a hiccup with the aboriginal dept over them wanting a bit more clarity on removing vegetation , and they had to lodge a bit more information before they start , which is what caused the slight delay . Which would explain why all their equipment has been sitting there for quite a few weeks .

But it was a bit vague ,which is why I hesitated to post it , so apologies if it’s not quite correct

Removing new growth plants from logging and bushfires?
Not sure exactly ,Im just relaying what was said to me,and i have to be careful i dont say things that are wrong , but the size of plants that are allowed to be removed was mentioned , I think there was some confusion around that.

The good news is , it appears to be all sorted

They appear to have started ,

Firstly, was told over the weekend they have started,

and did a drive by where they keep their equipment at the footy oval this morning, some of the machinery was out , and if i put my detective hat on , there were 4 cars parked right there side by side that look suspiciously like they are owned by mountain bikers going by the car stickers :)
