yes it is funny because i was the same.

Ive been looking into my first Dh bike too. And I think the iron horse or glory are the way to go. My mate just got an iron horse sunday, and he loves it

Just be aware that the Sunday was built for Sammy Hill and his riding style, which is very drifty- as a beginner a drifty bike may not be the best idea.
Yes if you can find a frenchie bike for your price range you should jump on it, they're awesome.
Don't be afraid of common bikes! My mates all laughed when I started building a glory but after the last ride day when they saw how strong and fast it was in action they're attitudes changed.
What about a stab supereme? They are so strong and reliable.

Any ways good luck, make sure you love the look of it cos you look at it six days and ride it once a week!
