What did you do TO / WITH / FOR your bike today!

<TLDR>
Stayed up until zero dark thirty last night and finally put the rest of the Spitty for the Hallion together. Told the Hallion to have a look in the bike shed this morning, thinking I might get a wow that's great dad thanks, or something like that. Of course that is in a completely different spiderverse to the one I actually live in.

First comment "have you lost the green valve cap already..."

About to be

So hospital this morning, X-ray of wrist shows no break or fracture. Due to pain and being scaphoid, plaster & sling for a week. CT scan in a weeks time will determine if there is a fracture. Apparently they can take time to appear.

The scaphoid is an inconvenient thing.

Unpacked and reassembled the roadie, vacuumed out the biscuit crumbs from the bag from a poor decision to throw in an open pack in there! Roadie is back on dodgy Hobart roads tomorrow after some quality time on quality Canberra bike paths.

Looks like we might be heading your way a bit more often @ozzybmx

Awesome! I was at the Otway's again for this years Odyssey and due to a lot of factors, it was the first one I haven't ridden myself in years. Fomo was hitting me HARD. Wife did the 50 and my son the 10.

But, your young fella and mine must have been riding close to each other. Same boat, I cant seem to get him to come along for a weekend ride so other than riding to school each day, he doesn't usually seem to interested. But after this years Odyssey he seems a lot more keen. Hopefully it sticks.

Found both green valve caps so crisis was averted then took the Hallion to visit his grandparents farm yesterday.

Moorey used to like posting pics of bikes on ovens, I think I'll start a new trend of bike on roof.

The eagle eyed will spot that yes, there is a rear tyre on the front but it came with the wheels and was free so it will do for now.

Quick question time, can someone please remind me what size shock this bike uses? I think it is a 200x57 but the Monarch did the negative chamber suck down trick yesterday and I can't see the numbers on the shaft at the moment and need to see if I have a spare I can swap until I get a kit to service it.

Yep, 200x57.

I've got a Cane Creek somewhere you could borrow for now?

Thanks for the offer, I'll check the black hole (shed) tonight. The Spider I just bought for a rainy day because I thought the Spitty was too small has a 200x51 and came with a spare which I guess would work, with reduced travel.
Looking at the pic of him on the bike I think the sizing is pretty good for now, oh well I have a spare fire when he does grow.

They grow like weeds. He'll be on the spider in no time.

8km to go on 4wd descent. Finished one handed, walk parts, ride parts.
Totally agree with what you have said re: tracks. Not only the bluestone, but some of the lumps and jumps just seemed awkward.
Quite a bit of single track was too tight, both ends of bars in the bush.
I may go back, we’ll see
I did the 50km for the second time, and managed to beat last years time by 20 minutes. I made all the climbs and didn't cramp which is a achievement in itself, but still bit was annoyed I didn't finish in under 3hrs.
It was not without its race day issues like ghost shifting middle gear and dropper post decided not to return without a bump on the saddle.
Also copped a bit a fair bit flak/cheek from a few guys for wearing flat shoes in a xc race, only for a rider in front of us to fall over still clipped in when the Yaugher conga line stopped :D.
Fortune favors the brave, i didn't have enough trail speed and braked too much into the loose berms, skating the rear around the red carpet decents. Certainly not a fan of the log roll overs either.

Should probably go in the LTIH thread, but it's relevant here.

Based on my google maps calculations, the "97"km Odyssey, that was actually 108km, had 46 km of gravel road riding.

Based on that, if I do the 50/30 combo next year, I'll probably do just as much single track as what I did this year.
