You know you're getting old when ...

when you had a mate whos ignition could be started with a flat head
Know a mate? I am that mate!

Back when I was using it to get to work, I came across the store manager talking to a police officer about a brown kingswood that had been broken into. "Wanna press charges?" "Nah, its not exactly Fort Knox"

More fun though, is when it's in that in between place of being stone cold and properly warm, the carby would dump drops of fuel big enough to not burn in the cylinder, but would make it to the just hot enough headers to explode and make everyone in front of the dominoes store drop their pizza.

We used to superglue the bottom end of the ignition key in the dirt bikes or just bypass it altogether. It only takes one key to bounce out miles from home for it to be a lesson. As none of my bikes ever had lights or were registerable they never had keys in the first place. Encouraging people to drop their dominoes pizza is a community service, much like torching a mcdonalds.

indeed. Dominos franchises seem to be deliberately set up to put the squeeze on the franchise holder, who, in turn, engages in wage theft and exploitation simply so the business survives. And it's shit pizza.
McDonalds is pure cancer. The smell that hits you as you enter the place should be enough for anyone to do a U-turn and GTFO.
There are so many preservatives in maccas "food" that a lot of bogans and eshays won't need enbalming when they die.

I've seen this trick too BITD. Also allegedly being able to open the rear door of a 4 door HQ using a paddle pop stick shoved in rear window seal just above where the mechanism lives.
VB Commodores you could wiggle/jiggle the handle then give it a sharp pull and it would unlock the door. HJ-HX keys also started them.

BITD a work colleague showed me the door lock hack. I confirmed this one day (and a mate just happened to have his HJ keys) when we happened upon an abandoned VB sedan. It had fuel in it and met an untimely demise with a power pole 😬

maybe more of a CoAFW, but..
YKYGOW.. what years would have been a superficial graze... turns out to be an "exfoliation" of all skin layers for little apparent reason... (tripped in safety 🩴s.. lost a lotta toe skin..)

Pretty sure my outer bits used to be better stuck to the inner bits?? 😂

My uncle is only 62 (that's another way you know your getting old you start with only in front of old people) and we went on a Motorcycle ride the other day - When he put his jacket on all he did was catch the zipper on the sleeve and he started bleeding like a stuck pig as it tore the skin - it gets so fragile as you age,

My knees hurt. All the time.

My right knee is hurting at the moment. No pain when I ride, walk, squat, run etc. but I have pain when I stretch... Do I have an injured muscle that I am able to compensate for with no pain? I stretched in bed the other night and nearly cried out when I hit the painful spot but it doesn't limit me actually using it. Let's hope I figure it out before something goes bang.

Go down a gear or two and unlearn to spin a bit more. I will never love the idea either but I need my knees working for some time yet.

got knee pain when its cold. straightening my leg after sitting or sleeping can be agonising. first walk down the stairs it clicks and hurts. warm up and its fine. squatting heavy, no pain at all. Tried total rest, low weight leg extensions, full training. also have a weakness in my elbow, no pain at all, just cannot hold things steady for bench or dumbell OHP. down 30% on weights i could do 3 months ago. I really should go write up my list and go visit the GP, just putting it off as its always such a long process. Rest it totally, then come back then a scan then a specialist.

maybe a period of no gym and just riding, but at this time of year i just wouldn't get out enough

Woke up with a sore kneecap this morning. Really sore to touch. A bit warm too so inflammation of sorts. Scanned my brain for anything yesterday and vaguely recall kneeing the dishwasher shut but other than that nothing. Bit of ice and that numbs it. Definitely on the patella and not the joint. Can walk and move without issue other than the pressure on the patella. Fuck.
Getting old sucks but still better than the alternative.

I don't know. I quite like the idea of a mil-spec titanium android body.

I had something similar, it turned out to be a muscle compensation which was making my inner calf super tight. I think I was quad dominant and so I needed to do more glute exercises to stop overcompensating.

Not saying this is your issue but a trip to the physio could identify the problem.

Started getting soreness in my right knee on second last day bushwalking in New Zealand 3 weeks ago. Next day it was very painful with about 20 KMs to walk out. Agony for last half hour. Long story short, couldn't get doctor to look at it till back in Tas. MRI shows a very small tear in Minescus. Doc says it's my call; gently exercise and stretches or go under the knife. I am taking the exercise route for now. Feeling better every day. Sleeping comfortably is an issue. Hope to be back on bike by January 1.
Aging and injuries are a bad mix.

That makes a bit of sense to me. I need to work more on my glutes which may or not help.

I have found that long drives seem to irritate it. It was most noticeable after 4 days away with the family. I did all the driving 7 hours each way + my usual driving to and from work~3.5 hrs 2 days a week. Focusing on using the cruise control lately has helped though is a bit annoying in the dynamic flowing traffic. It seems to be getting better.
