Thanks again guys for all your help, booked in now - 19-22 in the CBD, 22-24 in Blue Mountains, 24-27th in Wollongong (staying at base of Mt Keira).
I take my bike on the train all the time. Other passengers are real wierd about it, mostly some hate bikes and others are really cautious of them. Peak travel times are not recommended. If you end up using the north shore line to hit Hornsby, jump off at Milson's Point on the way back and ride over the bridge. It delivers good vibes. Also...see how far up you can ride on the northern steps. I'm not much of a climber and can struggle my way up the first 3 flights. One day I hope to make it all the way.I can take the bike on the train if it's not too packed?
Add to that advice a stop off at the harbour view hotel on the way home...Awesome thanks
I guess the bike wouldn't be holder af an Opal card nor will the RTA/Transit Cops have any way to police them either.^^^ I think that all changed when they brought in the Sydney Opal card system...bike is free at all times.
They ditched that with the opal cards. Plus I have never in all my years of using trains and taking my bike been asked about having a ticket for it, despite being hassled by the authorities quite regularly.Bikes are ok on the train. Peak hour you need a child ticket for the bike.
Cheers didn't know about the use of regular credit card (or phone) works well for blow ins like me who don't have an Opal card! They should do that here (Perth) I think everyone has this kind of RFID system now don't they? We have had it for ages more than a decade according to Wikipedia. I'm pretty sure you can still buy a ticket here though if you need to. No public transport close to riding here though so I never take my bike on the train. They ditched that with the opal cards. Plus I have never in all my years of using trains and taking my bike been asked about having a ticket for it, despite being hassled by the authorities quite regularly.
For all those interested, nsw has just introduced paying directly with some credit cards. You tap on and off just like with opal, without the hassle of loading money onto your card. Currently the police are unable to assess if you have actually tapped on or off with your card though this is expected to be resolved around March. Not sure how this works if mum and dad decide to take the family out for a day. Will each family member need a credit card? Just imagine if there was an simple way...like having a ticket. Opal was a shit system and I'm glad to see an alternative being put into play.
You mean the Gosford bike park? I'm pretty sure that won't be very easy to get to without a car.Shame the new bike park won't be open when I get there
Would have picked the hire car up a day earlier if I needed to am driving from CBD to Blue Mtns then to the Gong. Just no car while staying in the city as I didn't see the point. You mean the Gosford bike park? I'm pretty sure that won't be very easy to get to without a car.
