COVID-19: who’s going full doomsday prep on this?

And we know the reasons for that, labor hire/casual workers with no benefits.. Exact same thing happens in the other states, it’s not unique to melb.. Going to the pub with 600 other people arm in arm is wrong, working while mildy ill or waiting for a test when living week to week aren’t the same things..
What clearly is different in melb is the how the dhhs ,contract tracing and hotel quarantine is run compared to NSW..
Its still not a management issue. You can't manage stupid, if people are going to ignore what they're told to do, we're going to keep getting this shit.

I think the biggest key differences we have to other states are
a) entitled douchebag ratio - we have these in bigger numbers than anywhere else, change my mind
b) ethnic diversity - again a thing we have in spades. I feel strongly that diversity is what makes our country awesome, but there is a real struggle in communication and sometimes with attitudes to rules.
c) a culture of people that can't seem to live without a bustling social life - You should have heard it all over the radio when lockdowns were being eased "I can finally go out for dinner again" "everyone should hit up their local and support them by scoffing Parma and sinking piss" FFS, it's like the stalled nightlife was the absolute worst thing that could happen in a pandemic.

I'm struggling to see how any entity can be blamed for a security guard choosing to not do his job and a quarantined "guest" choosing to ignore her quarantine. The responsibility falls on them, shit if people could be trusted the security guard wouldn't have been needed. See above Karen video for more proof of why we're in the shit we're in. And the stats of people getting fined driving cross city to catch up with mates. And the stats of people continuing to live life as per normal after testing. And the fuckers that point blank refuse to test. We need everyone doing the right thing, or we're just going to keep on relying on sheer dumb luck to knock it down and let us get back to some semblance of normalcy.

FFS, what is wrong with some people.
Fucked in the head, and a raging sense of entitlement.
Its private property. The Business sets the rules. if some fuckhead doesn't like it, they can fuck right off. no compulsion to shop there.

A pity the cop couldn't put a gag in its mouth to get it to shut the fuck up. No wonder we are in this situation.

What is truly depressing is that if we all just did the right thing for a month Covid would be history. If we all did that globally, it would be extinct before we knew it. But, what we see is a classic example of a minority of people behaving selfishly and prioritising short term gain instead of avoiding long term pain.

The worst offenders seem to have some sort of twisted mentality that what the universe throws at you should not cause you inconvenience and discomfort when the reality is that pretty much everything humanity has achieved through a trail of pain and suffering.

It's like people who complain about having to wear a mask. Yes, its inconvenient and we all agree that it would be nicer not to have to wear a mask, but in the overall scheme of things its such a minor inconvenience that it boggles the mind that anyone would even give it a second thought. What a bunch of winer-babies in need of the waaambulance.

Worse bit about old mate Karen and her mask anger issues is she didn’t get arrested and left on her own accord in the end..
apparently it had a medical exemption. So..... why the FUCK did it not show Bunnings staff the documentation for that in the first place.
Probably because it wanted to create some bullshit drama to upload to the tinfoil hat truth network.

Mrs George made the point this arvo, if they have a medical exemption it (should) mean they have respiratory issues to begin with, and should therefore stay the fuck home to avoid it all anyway

She had no purpose at bunnings other than to take that video IMO.

She’s about to find out that excercising her ‘human rights’ at the expense of others won’t win favour with the judge.

EDIT: not arrested? Damn

A) haven’t seen a single person not wearing a mask, apart from me and the kids riding and we get dirty looks.. That doesn’t seem to fit your entitled douchebag theory..
B) Western Sydney, apart from Melb that’s were every other migrant moves to.. And where is the main clusters in syd now?
C) Depends on your social circle, a mate of mine lives in Mosman (yes he has done well) the local pub is heaving.. Victoria never got to that stage.. Going out to dinner or a cafe (or a haircut) was regarded as very low risk by the cho when restrictions were lowered.. People following the restrictions and going out for dinner isn’t bad behaviour.. Just because you wouldn’t do it doesn’t make it wrong..
Surely you realise people aren’t that different just because they live in another state. Virtually every country now (apart from the ones that have dealt with novel viruses previously) have had a “second wave”.. So are they all self entitled douches, say in Japan or Singapore doing the wrong thing? or this a highly contagious virus that spreads quickly as soon as restrictions are eased?
Remember way back at the start, mandatory q was introduced because you couldn’t trust people to do the right thing.. Not much has changed and it’s not unique to Victoria..

A) yeah, seen a ton of it. It was woeful in the inner suburbs, with people gathering in groups for a chinwag around a coffee at trendy looking cafes during first round and second round, and this is just what I've seen with my own eyes.

B) I'm certain I've read that we are a hub for migrants, happy to stand corrected but my understanding was that we do get more than most states. This isn't a dig at it either, I'm first gen Aussie and think we're better off for the diversity. It possibly plays in our favour too I guess with regards to corona, certain groups were wearing masks well before it was cool.

C) yeah, see that's the thing. People got told restrictions were being eased, and figured that meant they were dropped. My local shopping centre went from deadsville to mayhem overnight. People were frothing for wining and dining and socialising and the hype around it was bonkers. When the gates were lifted an inch, everyone went full free for all and instead of a few cases being found and isolated, we spread it like we had no idea it existed.

Maybe we're not that different from syderney or any other major city. I find it hard to believe that anywhere else has as many toorakky Karen's or invincible tradies per capita, but maybe I'm wrong.

I still think my point stands though - the outbreak is entirely on the people that have not followed the rules, and not an issue with poor management. Could be we just copped all the stupid at once in a string of bad luck, and other states have just had less stupid strung together. It's still not a management issue

With respect no it isn’t entirely on people doing the wrong thing. I know of people who caught it while doing everything right.. As shit as it is to admit there his structural failures within the management of contract tracing and within the dhhs/quarantine.. There has been poor communication of when you should or shouldn’t have isolated and very little info for migrant communties. Remember when the health minister was telling people to get tested just for the sake of it, at the same time they weren’t telling people to isolate until test results come in.. wtf..
Have a look at the info nsw health are sending out.. Every day bang on 11am the data comes out, every suburb is named and were each confirmed case has traveled to.. In Vic they cobble together the data sometime in the morning, release it when they can get there shit sorted and then there is virtually no info where the cases are coming from.. I clearly remember early on Brett Sutton posting the link to the LGA case numbers data and saying it has been very hard to get up.. That sort of stuff shouldn’t be hard.. I’m not blaming the individuals working their arses off trying their best but something is off in the health dept in Vic..
NSW has people spreading the virus but they aren’t bagged out as not following the rules, somehow it’s only Victorians doing the wrong thing.. It’s double standards and it’s a BS.. There is more at play..

For fuck sake stop banging on about how Victoria is being treated badly. No one cares.

Each state has to work with what it has and get any outbreaks under control.

Given that it appears that many people are asymptomatic and that everyone is contagious before symptoms appear and how infectious this thing is it is damned hard to control. We just need to work on social distancing and being aware of basic hygiene, just like we were at the outset. We are all seeing attitudes getting more careless and cavalier and that will give the virus all it needs to keep spreading. As a whole we need to be mindful of that and take steps to minimise transmission.
