Electric Vehicles etc

Who would've thought that a notoriously difficult material to work with (stainless steel) could be difficult to work with?
I've watched a video on the Lucid Air and that company is made up of engineers from Tesla that have designed a car with the innovation of Tesla but without the crazy ideas of Elon creeping in. I think the Cybertruck is one of Elon's ideas that the engineers have had to design around.
Sometimes it's the crazy ideas that push things forward, but they also can drive things into an impossible and expensive design.

I'm certainly interested to see the proper production version and how it goes in the real world.

Im all for the aesthetics being bold and different, but the rivians gear tunnel, lux interior, quad motor design, frunk, self charging torch in the door, self charging boom box speaker, spare tire in the tray instead of under the car etc Its like they tried to make it as practical as possible using every free space the electric drivetrain free's up to make a better vehicle.
The F-ing cybertruck? What if there is something you need at the back of the tray, you'll have to climb in to get it. Its got a tiny frunk.....and thats it. wow.
its just a shame Rivian will probably go broke, they probably have the best car on the planet right now (quality and pricing issues aside).

the article the picture is from is theorizing this is the vehicle that will be released, screwed up panels gaps and all. The head designer was driving this thing around on the weekend, 2-3 weeks before the first deliveries......

Well, Tesla have only just sorted the panel gaps on the rest of the line up so that's probably a few years off. :p

I don't know if it's just the light, but that one looks black, not the raw stainless look. There have been a few preproduction Cybertrucks getting around with custom vinyl wraps on them.

AUSTRALIAN SHIPBUILDER INCAT TASMANIA TO DELIVER THE WORLD’S LARGEST BATTERY ELECTRIC SHIP

Incat Tasmania is leading the world in producing pure-electric lightweight zero-emission ferries.

Australian shipbuilder Incat Tasmania has under construction the largest lightweight battery electric ship (130 m in length) so far constructed in the world for delivery to its South American customer, Buquebus.

This ship, the world’s largest battery-electric Ro-Pax ferry, will be 100% battery electric. The energy storage system (ESS) battery storage at over 40MWh will be four times larger than any battery installation that has been constructed and installed anywhere in the world for the marine transport environment. The batteries power a series of E-motors which drive the water jet propulsion system. The electrical system integration is by Wärtsilä and ESS by Corvus Energy.

Sometimes its the wrap companies that do this to cars to, lots of cars around that have been wrapped and have weird panel gaps after wrapping. Guess you get what you pay for.

Hmm significantly smaller than the existing ferries, I wonder how profitable it would be?

Toyota is one of the few car makers that develop and produce its own batteries, which allows it to put the cells through rigorous testing and quality control measures
Yes, unlike BYD

The single-motor versions make 150kW/266Nm and have a driving range of up to 512km. All-wheel drive models use two motors to make 160kW/337Nm with a driving range of 461km.

Those numbers aren’t groundbreaking and fall into the lower range of already on sale rivals such as the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Tesla Model Y.

Prices haven’t been announced but expect the range to start at about $80,000 drive-away.

Sounds great Toyota, nice and affordable.
