Round 4, the final round of the NSW IXS Gravity State DH Series will be held at Awaba on Sept 1 and 2 hosted by HMBA.

This will be the first ever event at the new Awaba Mountainbike Park and the first chance many people will have to taste the first phase of the trails in the Area.

More specific details will be posted shortly, but thanks must be given to State Forests, Bunnings and the Series sponsers IXS Gravity for their support of the event.

The trail will be open on the friday for private shuttles and unofficial pracitce. We just ask that people respect the state forests wishes and refrain from riding in the back of utes.

Hopefully we can see a lot of you here for the event.

Still not open for riding, so no photos. Finishing touches to the trail and carpark are happening this weekend.

There is shots of the trail on the HMBA website, but only one action shot.

Just a note as well, we were hoping to have the trail open this weekend, but the recent rain has meant that the trail IS CLOSED TO ALL RIDERS this weekend.

We need to clean the trail up and do not need people flying by as we work.

Taken this from the HMBA Forum, but thought it needed to go here. please heed the TRAIL CLOSED part of the message.

Rick on top of Awaba's latest construction

Note the off-camber entrance

Yeow

Please note that despite the construction of the bridge, the track remains CLOSED until Friday 31st August. There have been reports of riders hitting up the track straight after the recent rainfall. This is not acceptable and any riders caught on the track will be banned from the upcoming State round and all future races in the Hunter area. So one more time...

Don't forget to get your entry submitted as this is a pre-entry ONLY event. Rego closes Wednesday 29th.
Remember it is pre entry only and entries close next Wednesday at midnight.

why is this pre entry only
The difference between say 150, 200 or 250 riders coming to a race has a huge impact on the amount of infrastructure (busses, trailers, first aid, toilets, etc) that need to be provided for on race day. This can have a huge impact on the $$$ outlayed to put the show on.

This stuff isn't cheap and while the club isn't doing this to make money, we don't want to be throwing it away either.

So, pre entry allows us to know in advance numbers we are catering for. As squid said, it has being working great with the enduro races for years so there is no reason why it shouldn't work here.

We realise this may put some riders off, and appologise for it, but in order for us to run races more efficiently it is a step that is needed.

..........and should be used at every state and national level race in Australia. It saves so many of the unknowns.
