The footy has finished, the snow is melting, and spring has arrived! It can mean only one thing, time to get back on your bikes.

Not long now until the Round 1 of the 2011/12 KONA Victorian Down Hill Series kicks off at the You Yangs on the 22nd & 23rd October.

Online Entry is already open. Use this link to register online.
https://www.registernow.com.au/mtba/ERegister.aspx?E=806

Online entry will save you money this year and you will also go into the draw to win a refund of your entry fee. The first round of the series always has the longest queue’s so register online so you don’t get stuck in them.

The last downhill race at the You Yangs was back in early 2010 and a lot has changed since then. If you haven’t seen the track since the park re-opened you are in for some surprises.

The club has also negotiated with Parks Victoria to use the old quarry area for parking and will require a gold coin donation, which is all being donated to charity. All drivers must follow the instructions from the parking marshals and park where directed. We must also remind everyone that there is NO CAMPING at the You Yangs and this includes the carpark.

VOLUNTEERS DESPERATELY NEEDED.
These events do not happen without the generous support of volunteers. The club desperately needs volunteers to help us as track marshals, shuttle drivers & catering hands. All volunteers will be well looked after and rewarded for your help. Please email the club with you name and contact number if you are able to help.

Hope to see all racing soon.

hi,
willing to enter online to save some $$, but i can only make it up on the sunday. its cheaper to enter on the day rather than online which only offers entry for saturday and sunday. could it be put forward to offer online entry for race day only, saves rego on sunday when the mad rush always happens.

thanks,

Horgs

Unfortunatley we are restricted by the MTBA registration system as we can only enter one price per category which means we can not offer online entry for Sunday Only. Saturday is the crazy day for registration at the event. There are only normally 15 - 20 people who enter just for Sunday.

Sunday only registration closes at 10am sharp and you must also do a compulsary run down the track before 11am.

Hope to see you at the You Yangs on Sunday for the race

That is such a cool and progressive idea guys, hats off to you - and Tracey and Jarrod - for helping the kids out! Shit, I might have a shave and get a helmet that's too big and see if I can sneak in!

Just got back from a ride there this morning, only doing push runs.

WHAT THE SHIT IS IT WITH PEOPLE FEELING THE NEED TO STAND, WITHOUT A BIKE, RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LANDING/TAKE OFFS OF A-LINES? AND WHEN THEY SEE SOMEONE RIDING UP JUST STAND AND STARE/MAKE AN ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC EFFORT TO MOVE THAT ACTUALLY ACHIEVES NOTHING TO CLEAR THE TRAIL? I (AND MOST OTHER PEOPLE I IMAGINE) DO NOT ENJOY HAVING TO CRASH/STOP COMPLETELY AT THE START OF EVERY SINGLE SHITTING JUMP AND ROCKGARDEN.

So, end result. I have a bent brake lever, disk, and shinbash.

IT IS NOT TOO MUCH TO ASK TO BE ABLE TO DO A COMPLETE RUN!

(this is not directed at mr flat tyre specilized man)

YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE. NEXT TIME I WILL THROW MY BIKE AT YOU/PUNCH YOUR BABIES.

And yes, it did happen multiple times, on different lines that have good visibility. No, I will not provide you with a way to fix your stupidity, work it out yourself.

NOT LONG NOW - Round 1

If the 140 riders at the You Yangs shuttle day plus more doing push runs are anything to go by, we are should have a great turn out at the first event next weekend (22nd & 23rd October)

Online Rego closes THIS WEDNESDAY. Entry is capped at 400 (last year first round had 370 entries)
Use this link to register now.
https://www.registernow.com.au/mtba/ERegister.aspx?E=806
You will save yourself time and money and also go into the draw to win a refund of your race entry fee.

Parking:
Parking will be in the old quarry area. Scouts Australia have kindly offered to help the club as parking marshals. Entry to Parking will require gold coin donation which is all going to 2nd Lara Scout Group. Please follow all directions from the Scouts. There is NO parking on Great Circle Drive.

Tents\Pit Area:
Space has been allocated for sponsors, Clubs and Registered Teams to put up tents, there is plenty of other space for people to put up tents but you must carry everything in from the carpark. All tents must also be securely fixed in place. The ground is hard, so bring strong pegs.

Rubbish:
Please keep the park tidy, plenty of bins will be provided so please use them.

Camping:
There is NO camping at the You Yangs, this includes the carparks.

Volunteers:
We have had a good response for volunteers so far but as the saying goes, “many hands make light work”. The more volunteers we have the more we can rotate people and give everyone a chance to soak up the full atmosphere of the event. If you are able to help please email youyangsmtbinc@yahoo.com.au with your details.
