More wannabe kids.....

Similar to Indica's post above. I'm 38, and am have been riding trails on and off for about 15 years, and have slowly converted my partner to "the dark side". She's been riding for about the same time, but was always a bit more of a roady. Now we have 4 MTB's and no roadbikes. Last year I finished building a DH bike, and took it to Thredbo for the first time - Absolutley Bloody Awesome! She loved it - overcoming the confidence/fear barrier and having a blast. Can't wait to get back.

I find it's such a great combination of the environment (sweet bit of single-track), the fitness, the skill (or lack of) & the technology (bike porn). Just roll it up to the perfect package. Now, if only I could jump like the kids.......

Cheers

I'm 45 next week and ride with a bunch of blokes whose average age would be similar.
I am getting my daughters and wife into it. We went down to Canberra recently and they all rode about 80% of the Stromlo course (albeir slowly). They really enjoyed Sparrow hill...The girls are 8 and 12 so if they stick at it they could end up being quite good...they crash a lot and dont cry much so that is encouraging.
Good on you!! for getting your daughters and wife into mtb! :) Should be more of us in this sport. I'm 46 , only starting mountainbiking about 20mths ago after my son decided he wanted to do downhill mountainbiking, and 3 months ago bought my first downhill bike and full face helmet. And have just returned from a holiday which included riding at Sparrows hill and the downhill course at Stromlo, and Thredbo.

Encourage your wife - if I can do it so can she! (Show her the Girls Only forum) More the blokes should be encouraging the females in their lives to go mountainbiking. It really is a lot of fun!!:D

There is something mystical, yet wild and wise about an older woman!!!

You got Wild right, as for Wise, they will tell you they are at least once a day. :D

my wifes 2 years on me, when we met 11 years ago, i lied about my age, as she wasnt into younger men, worked a treat until she met my sister and found out the truth
