Wintersave should still work. Make a new account with an email you haven't used before then apply the code

It will 100% not work if you're not signed in on an account which has made zero purchases

If you open the homepage in incognito and the wintersave promo banner is up then I see no reason for it not to work

they definitely wont break. You can still get seal kits for them too by the looks of things. Probably 2kg of oil sitting in those things too
