Canberra rides and beers

I chatted to Stromlo about the annual pass yesterday. Annoyingly, you can't apply it to two vehicle - it's tied to the rego.

As I can't be sure what I'm driving to the trails it means I'm out for the annual pass. Pretty annoying.
I wouldn't have thought you've parked at Stromlo 47 times in one year, so the pass would be less economical.

Mate, I reckon I only got to Strom 47+ times in one year when I was training weekly for Kowalski in 2015/16 :)

Pre covid I think I'd have gone maybe 30 times a year. Since then renovations etc got in the way, but I'll be back up to that level next year.

Ultimately I just like the simplicity of rocking up and not having to worry about apps or ticket machines.

I'd be happy to pay a little extra via the annual if it goes toward the park.

Happy to buy an annual if the money goes into the park and not consolidated revenue.

People in Duffy and Coombs are going to be pissed about the parking in their streets I reckon.
They already are, a friend owns a house right near Stromlo and when people park in the street it hard to get past them, we tried to get a truck of tiles dropped off so I can do the garage floor for some new toys and not enough space to reverse it in the driveway without smashing some randoms car, so hand unpacking whilst blocking off the street was the only option, skip bin drivers just refuse to stop sometimes if they cant get in so you have to use the bobcat to try and move the bin a bit.
If you have a ute no one really looks twice but a family car with a bike rack might be out of place. I know a few people have been contemplating the 'MESS' stickers that the parking companies use that are a pain to take off if you don't have some hand sanitiser to soak it with before peeling it off.

I’m probably out for boring Christmas organisational reasons, but let me know what time in case I can jag it

I got a sneaky lap in yesterday myself, in the anticipation that today would be a write off.

Sorry to hear about the shoulder, mine is actually slowly getting better. I was able to hit the lower section of Terbuchet yesterday for the first time in well over 12 months. Still only at about 6-70% of full send, but that's still a big leap forward from where I was even 3-4 months back.

Had a bit of an embarrassing moment as I was going upward. I was trying to change down a gear as my lack of fitness kicked in, but something in my shifter wasn't engaging and I couldn't change down. It was only when I looked at the rear wheel when I realised that I was already in the lowest gear possible and it was my legs that had the problem. First time that's ever happened to me - fuck you, I'm in my 50s.

What will the trails be like this arvo?

Been out of town since Xmas and wondering if I can sneak in a ride this arvo - thinking of Stromlo or Bruce Ridge, preferably the former as the Ridge is so badly overgrown at the moment and I'm over being face/arm whipped for most of the ride.
