Mack 10 race next weekend if the weather holds.Both. (Or possibly something lighter than Cushcore, like Rimpact)
Which trails?
Definitely run Cush and DDMack 10 race next weekend if the weather holds.
And I'm rocking a flabby 120kgs+ atm.
In all honesty I'm frightened to both fit cushcore with a DD tyre and then try and get it off again when needed without prior experience. plus the extra 500gms of rotating mass?Definitely run Cush and DD
In my experience running a Maxxis DD and Cushcore Pro wasn't much fun. Like it definitely had its advantages when the terrain demanded it, but everywhere else it was a slog.plus the extra 500gms of rotating mass?
they look good, but I was given a cushcore pro from a good friend to try along with some DD tyres, so I was just going to take advantage of what I had on hand as opposed.
Give these a look, they're light and provide decent protection from what I hear. Lighter than cushcore and seems to avoid the installation pain.
You'll only need to take it off when tyre is bald...... the weight penalty is what it isIn all honesty I'm frightened to both fit cushcore with a DD tyre and then try and get it off again when needed without prior experience. plus the extra 500gms of rotating mass?
Could you lose 40kg before the race? I don't think I'd stress about 500g vs puncturing on a race.In all honesty I'm frightened to both fit cushcore with a DD tyre and then try and get it off again when needed without prior experience. plus the extra 500gms of rotating mass?
Man I wish, I'd be happy to lose 4kg atm. I'm more interested in rim preservation than puncturing, couple of sniper rocks got me last time I rode there.Could you lose 40kg before the race? I don't think I'd stress about 500g vs puncturing on a race.
I don't recall Mack 10 being overly rocky, I was thinking you meant more like Tea Trees, Pandani, Clarence DH, Shearpin style. Sounds like an insert of some sort is a good idea though - Cushcore Pro might be a bit overkill but if it's what you have it might be worth running.
Not overly rocky but a few places where there are some nice sharp rocks, poor line choice and low tyre pressure would not be good.I don't recall Mack 10 being overly rocky, I was thinking you meant more like Tea Trees, Pandani, Clarence DH, Shearpin style.
