Welp, it was just as fast on my first ride on my usual loops as my Scout with these boat anchors of wheels (2,200grs give or take vs the 1,600grs on the Scout). I tend to be slower on first rides, so that is a good sign.
I was concerned that being a 29er and too long (to my like) wheelbase it would be a bus on the twisties but nope. Of course, there are turns you'll be slower on a longer bike whatever you do but the dang thing is agile. Again, not slower than the Scout and I was clearing stuff I didn't on the Scout.
In comparison, the 2014 Trance 27.5 WAS a bus around tight spaces and the suspension tended to use too much travel.
Yeah, you can throw more around the Scout, the smaller wheels help with that.
I have a decent wheelset on order for the Trance. I can't wait to try it with them.
