Human behaviour - humans are strange

I’m right. You’re all wrong. Thats why common sense isn’t that common. Different perspectives are a bitch and create conflict.

But I’m write.

Cardy’s 6yo is right too.
Fuck yeah lil’ smarty pants, keep asking questions.

Books appointment, wants to get into a house. Confirms 3 days prior, asks to be updated the morning and night of appointment, says yes. Doesn't show. I'll sell them to the next person. We put 6 places on market this afternoon, 5 gone within 10mins.. Oh sorry, houses aren't selling...no growth.. Oh look Bacchus just went up 20k for a block..

Your statement doesn't say where - Sydney auction clearance rates down to 47% ($1.3m median).
Melbourne and surrounds. Not every market is falling out the arse, especially greenfields: people pushing out to refinance to something more affordable. Media would have you believe everywhere is tanking.

This is whole topic is a bit weird. I agree parents have to shoulder some blame, especially those living their lives through their kids. The sense of entitlement thing is harder. Many blame the last generation but in my family group I can see it in a 63yo, a 45yo, a 28yo and some younger. I dont know where it comes from. I grew up relatively poor, my first new bike I bought when I was in my 30s and Christmas presents were socks and jocks etc until I graduated and had my own money (I left home at 16 to go to uni and leraned a LOT from that). So obviously not from there. I was brought up to respect women, to the extent that I have gotten into blues protecting the virtue of females I will never even talk to and this was in the age where getting a feel was considered a bloke's right yet I see current generations treating women poorly when they should fucking know better.

Common sense? Far from common, no one uses their brains. Information is so easy to access (phone, pad etc) nobody thinks anymore. Someone will look after me. I saw this in the Japanese safety culture which is universally lauded but I also saw some horrific injuries when the assumption that others will look after me failed.

I had a ute fly up the left side of me today and put his indicator to merge when he was alongside. There was no space yet behind me was maybe 10 clear carlengths. When I didn't back off or dematerialise I got the whole range of gesticulations out the window and he accelerated ahead and cut off the car in front of me so he could immediately turn right up a side street. I nearly wore a van which had changed lanes behind me. Dumb shits.

People ride their bike up a descending trail...
Between each fully banked berm (clue no. 1) there is a jump that is facing the opposite direction to your ascent (clue no. 2), other bikers coming down grabb a fist full of brake to miss you and the whites of their eyes are illuminating as they fly past (clues 3 & 4).
When you get to the top there is a wide fire trail arriving alongside the trail head (clue no. 5).
.....but you and your equally dim - witted companion remain oblivious.
Strange behaviour indeed.

Exiting a plane is always one that I've seen wheremany people up jump upearly stampede style andtry to leave pronto.
Shamefully I am that guy...once the light says remove seat belts I'm up and ready to rumble. I power through the terminal like a sailor on shore leave. Speaking of this moment, why do people waddle along so slowly and insist on obstructing the thoroughfare? And why do I power through all this? Who fucking knows...I rarely fly without a snowboard or bike and being oversized luggage I know I'll be sitting around the baggage claim until the very end. The futility of it blown my mind, but I have thus far been unable to stop it.

10 years ago I would have punched this pompous twat in the neck... can't believe how much attitudes have changed since the days you got a beaten for being a dick.

This happened about a year ago...

Riding with my 2 boys, some twat with headphones in and dark black sunnies is poncing down the trail, his dog runs runs up barking and starts jumping up on my boys.

I tell him 2-3 times to get his dog under control, he tells me this trail is allowed unleashed dogs on it... I tell him YES but they need to be under control, not jumping on people or killing local wildlife, so get it on the leash now !

He then starts telling me my tone is aggressive (his dog still jumping up on my boy, which I have now just pushed away with my bike) and his dog has every right to be off the lead. Then says my aggressive attitude is making him feel intimidated and he no longer wanted to discuss it with me... and I have assaulted his dog.

How has society changed so much that a 60kg streak of piss who has no respect for what his dog was doing (scaring my boy) or fear because they think they are right... and society says they can be offended and stand up people who bully and say things that offend them.
I'm no bully, but I was really pissed off he wouldn't take the dog under control and stop it jumping on my kids... and I would literally kill for my family... I was near in shock of how deserving and overbearing this idiot was.... I shook my head as he walked away head in the air as if he had won... Seriously, if this is representative of the next generation of adults, we are in trouble.

Should’ve taken on for the team and clocked him. Thats a dude that’s never had someone call him on his passive aggressive bullshit and hit him, so he knows he can get away woth it and doesn’t fear repercussions.

If someone goes postal on a plane this week, yelling “would you fucking bunch of poodles just sit the fuck down” it was nice knowing everyone. My god. Dicks in the window seat climbing over me to stand in the isle for 5. Utter madness.

Greed isn't a natural instinct and our society has all, enough, and more in abundance. So the need to hoard for winter is negated as the instict is satisfied. Or so it should be...the machine however can not allow enough to be enough.
Greed is a function of competition for resources ... As a less typical example of greed:Hoarders ... rubbish collectors ... you may think this is opposite to the Gordon Gecko greed ... but really it’s just the poor man’s version or less intellectual version of greed ... mixed in with both mental and habitual issues.

I’m fascinated by hoarders and hoarding ... the mental justifications are so varied and complex it’s awesome.

I read this comment the other day & couldn’t help but nod:

“... Anglo societies emphasise individualism more than others. Individualism is synonymous with capitalism, which advocates 'getting ahead', rather than a sense of community and caring for your fellow citizens and neighbours.

Individualism makes us materially richer, because it encourages hard working and material success, while collectivism relatively tolerates socialist principles such as state support.

But individualism is disastrous for social cohesion and road safety. Witness how US society is being torn apart right now. It also encourages motorists to see cyclists as 'others' who have made unsafe choices, for which they are not responsible...”
I’ve been thinking for some time that individualism is the start of the decay of modern society/ civilisation even.

Links to how individualism actually leads to tribalism ... which i would have thought was counter to being an individual.

I get that. Its something about sloooow people that drives me nuts. Its not a race, but the sluggishness of most people really grates on my nerves. Usually fatties...

I treat air travel like shopping centres - get it, get the thing, get out. Military precision, no faffing about.

Driving on a multi lane highway is an insight into the human psyche. People are free to do largely whatever they want and what a select bunch want is to be inconsiderate and selfish twats spoiling it for everyone else.

I don't even think its deliberate. Courtesy for someone else doesn't even enter their mental universe.

I could say a lot on this topic but I've tried to figure out how to be brief so I'll just say a couple things.

I think this self centred behaviour is linked to other beliefs in society. Anti-intellectualism is one I think comes from the same place. I read something about the profiles of gun owners in America and there was quite a few things suggesting that the most common gun owner/lover was traditional men who believe they should be in control of their lives and their family's but felt they were not in control. The guns helped them feel more in control and empowered. I think these behaviours are all linked to the same mentality that isn't good for society.

I think people being exposed to so many different people and things in modern society and some people don't handle it as well as others. Some are interested and enjoy the variety of experiences available in a diverse society and media. Some people aren't curious and may even get angry at the unfamiliar things around them.

I’ve been thinking for some time that individualism is the start of the decay of modern society/ civilisation even.

I definitely agree with this as well and think it is related. The diversity in society that is seen as positive can easily lead to tribalism which obviously is not.
