Little Things You Hate

I deal with IT people a lot. Using a windoze thing on a big network every day requires regular talks with them so they can fix whatever the latest random bug the pile of shite threw up that day. And thats just the bugs that stop me working - I ignore all the standard windows bugs and random glitches.

iTunes does need to be burned with fire. No argument there... Its weird when the rest of the OS is simple and effective. Although their office suite isn't awesome either. I wont use MS Office on the Mac as its the only app that will cause problems on the Mac (again, just inherently bad software from MS...), Open Office is good though.

I do find windows difficult to use. There is something about the way they structure things and the total lack of any logic to menus that drives me nuts. And the constant inconsistencies in menu structure between apps is just dumb and annoying.

Woohoo everyone getting tribal about their computer choices! Never see that on forums!

Personal preference is linux for work, apple for personal use.

I just sold my 2009 MacBook pro the other day to an upcycling guy - still worked OK. I still have no need to upgrade my 2014 model. The lifespan you get out of these machines makes them so worth the money.

While your dealing with them ask them why you aren't running mac desktops at work. I bet you the answer isn't just cost, given that Apple released those thin clients not that long ago.

I'm not a member of the pc master race. I just hate Apple products and the people that assume that Apple is the cure to what ails me.

Iphones have shitty hardware (the cameras especially). Macs have always been shit at maths and industrial applications. The Apple ecosystem is even better at seperating fools from their money then casinos.

I'm building a new house and specify cat 6e ethernet to every room.
You want to watch 4K porn from every room in the house .. so, 25 or even 50Mbps bitrate on that video? Do you have more than 20 rooms in your house? If not, then it all fits down a GigE link over cat5. But hey, you want 10G for other reasons, go wild.

Waving your network e-peen around without knowing that 6e isn't a cable standard .. now that's not much better than the architect who says that a single, well-placed Airport will do fine. At least the architect is right most of the time.

I'll make sure to call it Category 6/Class E in front of my architect next time. I'm sure she will give a shit.

Felix going in straight after Buller to fix a chunk of Mtb inflicted elbow bone. He’ll be off the bike entirely for 3 months :(

Ouch! Hope for a speedy recovery so she can get back to a safe hobby like smashing a mountain bike through the forest.
She’s right into the DH shuttle nights, and had just finished a ride with me. Generally, my kids only ever get injured off the bike.

foxtel/Telstra sending me round in circles getting 2 working connections onto one account. 4 months, more than 25 hours on the phone, and when they get one working they mistakenly switched the other one off, and now cant reinstate it without re-wiring the house. The defence for vpn and pirating rests your honour. finally got thru to someone who was about to solve it today and whilst on hold the call got sent back to the initial prompts , ended up with the call centre again who are complete muppets

You probably should have a VPN regardless. Those AFL passes aren't much cheaper than foxtel from what I can see.
I'm tempted to connect for a month while the cricket is on in SAfrica...

Old copper and adsl - I get 4mb on a good day, around 2.5 if it’s raining.

All about 6kms from Parliament House in the so called capital of the country...
