The alignment of the top pulley in relation to the cassette is what bring precision into the shifting. The top pulley must be in line with & parallel with the cassette.

I fail to see what the bottom pulley position has to do with anything, within reason.
A bent cage can tweak the upper (guide) pulley out of whack enough to affect shifting. The tighter the sprocket spacing, the less tolerance there is for misalignment.

Not sure how many videos he has on YouTube but he's got 150,000 subscribers, some of his videos are pretty good.
