Yessum. There is a technical paper in either the UK or US Auto Engineering journal back in the day. Worth a read if you can find it. Porsche created new alloys for barrel bolts and valves.

Those 917 Porsche Race cars were monsters. They Bellowed and Howled their way around tracks and were probably the best sounding racing car ever built, IMO, anyway.
