Being at Stromlo and being invited to join in on a random group ride. It certainly quickens my pace compared to when riding alone.

I've met quite few nice people like that over the years. A couple turned into regular riding buddies even.

Another reason MTB is better - roadies just sneer at you if you try to say hello...

Not quite true. On the roadie I would sneer at you if you have a crap bike. Elitism for the win....

Thanks to the guys last night at Stromlo who were super friendly after I got caught in a storm. They made sure I made it back to the car in the dark, lighting up the trail with their lights for me.

Long story, but I headed out for a ride and got caught around 800-830 in a pretty decent thunderstorm in Stromlo, waited in the shelter for it to blow over.
Lights were still in my ute as I usually get back to the car with enough time to grab my camera and capture the sunset. Lesson learnt, to mount them anyway.

The lesson there is keep riding! Riding in thunderstorms is great fun
