I've just bought a bike with 157 superboost (yep laugh it up) and I still think it's a flash in the pan. Has its pluses (in this instance super short chainstays while having stonks of tyre clearance) but otherwise yeah nah.
Couple it with a wider crank axle standard for some actual heel clearance on the chainstays / seatstays and I might be more interested, but I still reckon if it hasn't caught on yet it's not going to.
I still think it is. I have the opinion if the shortage of corona years hadn't happened, then the oversupply right now, a lot more would have jumped on the band wagon.
CC from Pivot said little jumps, 135-142-148 was pointless, 157mm was the widest you could go without changing the BB width and for me personally, the wider Q of cranks, the better.
My years on a fatbike with a massive Q-factor got me comfortable, then when I went back to regular/skinny Q on a roadie, XC bike etc... I was clawing at the cranks with my toes and crushing my metatarsals on the outside of both feet but especially my left on long rides or races.
Wider the Q for me, the better. It also helped when I went to trail style shoes rather than carbon soled XC/road shoes.
Roll on 157mm Superboost and 31" wheels
