Have a shimano PD-M520 pedal fitted to a standard deore hollotech 2 crank.
Am unable to remove the pedal from the crank. Have tried WD40 hitting it with a hammer etc.

Crank/pedal is currently not fitted to a bike

Cheers

Clamp the crank arm a in vice, pedal spanner, inox spray.

Use a length of metal tube to increase the leverage on the pedal spanner if needed.

Use softjaws to protect the crank if you don't want the arm cut up.

Just making sure you are aware the left crank/pedal have a reverse thread... I've seen many a spirit crushed by this bit of knowledge.

Oh dear God. Not this again...

Some advice - Vinegar is useless, sharkbearoctopus might be able to help... If you can track him down, Horatio will get the shits with you and don't even consider an oxy torch, WD40 or a dousing with freshly boiled water from the kettle.

The linked thread was great up until about post #63 where it becomes a soap opera which was entertaining!

Did think of the dissimilar metals using a heat gun on the crank thing. Or the opposite cooling the pedal using dry ice.
Would prefer the cooling method as it is less risk in damaging the crank with a heat gun but dont know where to get dry ice from. I dont think regular ice would cut it!:help:

Get sharkbearoctopus to help you. . . . . If you can't find sharkbearoctopus (he often skives off to the pub when there's work to be done) then do the following.

Give it a good soak soak in inox or WD40. Pour boiling water over crank and pedal. Use seatpost on pedal wrench to give you extra leverage. Celebrate getting pedal off by watching 14 hours of German midget porn.

Hmm seat post as a length of tube.... genius! I wonder if it will fit over the pedal spanner have to go try later!
