While you are not using it there is no reason why you cannot just roll it forward or even under the stem.
On my roadie I actulayy use the lights mounted under my stem (because I am vain and dont like the look of them sitting above my stem).

Seems strange that your Garmin cannot sit on top of your stem because I have seen many people with them mounted that way.

I think you'll find with a stem mount the Garmin will be a whole lot more protected. I've had some fairly major 'yard sale' type spills and it's stayed connected OK. You could be on the money with trying to pack out the mount to raise it a little - have another look first as the Garmin sits higher than the mount, giving it a bit of clearance, and I've not had any problems getting my unit to clear the bar clamps - on all of my bikes, which have a combination of Race Face, Easton and Giant Connect stems, all on 31.8 bars.

As to the AYUPs, I run mine horizonally and no issues with the lead, I think it actually makes management a bit easier. I can run it in under the stem, up through the gap between bars and mount and then plug it in.

You may get a little slippage between mount and bars, (especially if using carbon bars), this can be combatted with a dob of Silastic or a little cut up inner tube between mount and bars, just to give it a little 'stiction'.

Remember you can reverse the rubber spacer to change the angle on the stem. It can be run with no spacer (flat to stem), larger end to the back (slight upwards tilt), smaller end to back (largest upwards tilt).

Actually, its a friggin nice frame. Someone needs to steal the lefty before longxc gets his hands near it, then push the fork out to sea on an iceberg.

If your sticking your Garmin on the stem then where do you put your Ayup battery?
My battery usually goes on the stem. Surely your not attaching it to your bar?
On my Firebird the Garmin goes round the top tube just near where it meets the head tube.
This is not possible on the Niner as the junction is too thick there.

I don't have a Garmin, but my Ayup battery goes underneath the stem, which probably still allows the Garmin to fit on top.

Under the stem on my roadie.
I have a velcro strap that can fit under the Garmin mount (not sure it is the same mount as for your model).
On the MTB I am never using the 2 at the same time.

I cable tie my Ay-up battery to the underside of my stem and run the Garmin on top, worked fine for the WSC 24hr. I used to run the battery on the stem with the velcro strap and the Garmin on the top tube till one night when I knocked the Garmin off with my knee and lost it somewhere out the back of Stromlo :(

Nice Mary 1/9

Nice Mary 1x9 29er.

Have had mine for 2 months now.

Few upgrades have made a big difference, inc. XT brakes, Salsa bars, Lizard Skin Charger grips, Devo Ti saddle, Thomson post, Conti Race Kings and a Hope stem.

Not a custom title.
No, not the photograph. That would be why I titled it as not a 29er, just a 96.

Yes, it's a crossbreed with 29 front and 26 rear.
