Post your 29er!

Thanks for sharing that. Is the range similar to running 1 x 9 for example, or is it a bigger range with larger gaps between gears? Do you change the rear sprocket at all? Hope you don't mind the questions, but I HATE stuffing round with derailleurs, this has always appealed as a nice, neat solution, but needs a bit of an outlay up front to set up. Cheers!!
Sorry about butting in!

The Alfine 8 has a range equivalent to a 11-34 cassette. As Lukespook says the 8 is far more reliable and better suited to MTBing than the 11. It shifts faster and you can change under load (not full hammer load though) whereas the 11 is much more delicate and just wont cop that. Given the 8 speed is half the price the decision is easy.

Agree with Hugor.
Awesome looking bike but I reckon you could have done with the XXL given the amount of seatpost and spacers you are running.
How tall are you?
I'm just a shade under 6"4'. Maybe could have gone with an XXL but didn't have an opportunity to test one out and the XL felt good straight away. Santa Cruz sizing chart overlaps at 6" 4' for XL & XXL. I figured being just under that height, the XL would be best fit and besides I have never had to go to the XXL extreme before. The frame size for me feels spot on despite the extra seat post showing but that's why we have 400+mm posts. Top tube length is good with my preferred stem length, so not a problem for me.

Might give an XXL "whatever" a try for the next rig, but will surely be hard to find one to try (XL is hard enough). Might have to just take that leap of faith!

Happy trails.

Having had a Tallboy, I can attest that they fit small.

Wow - very nice Tallboy. Damn those wheels look good. If only they'd drop in price a bit more.. somewhere closer to $1.5k and i'd probably snap them up. $2.5k is still just a tad too much for me :(
Just a word of advice, If you ever get an Easton Wheelset with a QR Rear, turf the Easton Skewer IMMEDIATELY! Their hubs rely on the clamping force from the QR to hold the endcaps on. The Easton skewers are $2 pieces of crap that come loose while rinding. If you use a proper Shimano or even Mavic skewer you'll never see a problem. If you search on the net, people will be talking about Easton rear hub failures. This is NOT caused by a crappy rear hub, but a really really cheap crappy skewer. I learnt this the hard way......

Anyways, carbon wheels are really nice but I got them as a package deal with the bike so I didn't have to pay anywhere near the retail price for them. I would like to ride on some EDGE/ENVE someday....... $$$

Very nice Turner. What grips are those? I'm a fan of the wider style grips after giving myself "handlebar palsy" a few years ago.
As for the location. There's spinifex, green trees and the powerline density suggests proximity to a city and to the desert that still gets reasonable rainfall.
I'm guessing outskirts of Adelaide.

Grips are Ergon GP1 SL. Very comfortable, feel like I have no wrist support when I go back to standard grips.

Like your location logic, but no dice.

Damn!
I tried the Ergo for a while but I've now gone to cheapy commuter/hybrid style grips.
They look a bit shit but are the most comfortable grips for long distance riding that I've tried.
Lost the movement in my thumb for 3 weeks once after a long ride so I don't mess with it anymore.

Ooo, very good, how did you come to that (not cheating I hope)? Still haven't named the spot but that's gotta get 5 points.
Thinking around Launie - not far from the Casino - perhaps behind there somewhere - between the airport and the city. Those dried logs and redish stones are a give away. It looks like a colder enviroment. Not cheating - just very familiar. Stayed at the casino for work alot over the years.
