If you don't want mush, eat them faster.

Possibly, light milk would have a lower viscosity.
Another possibility is the fats in milk are a colloid and as milk gets soaked in it could leave a layer of fats which are water repellent around the bits of Weet Bix.

My missus put us all on light milk years ago, now if I drink normal milk it tastes really fatty. She ruined it for me

When I was a kid one of my chores was to walk down the hill to the dairy farm with a couple of plastic pails and bring them back with the day's fresh milk.

There'd be a solid layer of cream on the top of those the next morning.

If you want skim milk mix full cream 50/50 water, low fat 70/30 water, you will save heaps..
Full cream is about 87% water to start with, rip off bloody cows.

I've never liked full cream milk - it's Lait demi-écrémé or nothing for me!

That said, full cream milk in porridge is the shiznit.
