It's that time again...

What I voted for-
  • Children Collide- Farewell Rocketship
  • Dizzee Rascal ft. Calvin Harris- Dance Wiv Me (NB: Yes, it is overplayed now, was good in the couple of months before the commercials picked it up)
  • Flight of the Conchords- Inner City Pressure
  • Laura Marling- You're No God
  • The Living End- White Noise
  • Phrase- Clockwork
  • Rise Against- Re-education (Through Labor)
  • Snob Scrilla- Chasing Ghosts
  • Vampire Weekend- A-punk
  • Violent Soho- My Generation

What I think will win-
No particular songs or order: Living End, MGMT, Augie March, Bloc Party, Flight of the Conchords, Cut Copy, Ting Tings...not that I don't like these guys, just didn't make the cut from the shortlist. EDIT: Not that I do like them either

In before "I'm so underground I don't even listen to JJJ" and "JJJ is/plays shit" + "Your selections are ridiculous good sir!" etc.

I really hope the living end do not win.. This past year they've produced absolute crap compared to what they've done in the past..

As much as I hate to say it, I know MGMT will be in the top 3.. Which is terrible, their over compressed crap was fun for about 5 minutes, but when everybody latched onto electric feel, i knew they were destined to be another boring hit for a couple months, at least..

I lost interest in the Hottest 100 the year Bernard fucking Fanning won it with a song that had been all over commercial radio for the previous six months.

The last two years, the winner has not been the obvious commercial cross over hit has it? I don't listen to commercial radio by choice but I don't remember hearing Muse or Augie March on there at any time. Hell, I don't even remember Triple J playing Augie March that much so that one really surprised me.

However, the only band I can imagine beating Kings of Leon's Sex on Fire is Kings of Leon with Use Somebody. MGMT will be in there for sure but I don't think they will win it.

Ever since they went to internet poll it has been more comercialised.
I think it's always been comercialised. Take a look back a the past winners.

1995 Oasis - "Wonderwall"
1996 Spiderbait - "Buy Me a Pony"

Yeah, winner is usually always a bit 'poppy' if know what I mean. I think that most people that vote are teens/early twenties. I know personally haven't voted still I was about 23/24.

Really I couldn't care less about hottest 100, but I know it's a big money spinner for the J's, so I guess it's good thing.

I don't vote - just listen on the day and complain.
I have no doubt I'll complain, but I have voted.

...and the unfairly sidelined, lower positions go to,

Band Of Horses - No One's Gonna Love You
Band Of Horses - Ode To LRC
Bronx, The - Past Lives
Bronx, The - Knifeman
Dillinger Escape Plan - Black Bubblegum
Drones, The - The Minotaur
My Morning Jacket - Highly Suspicious
Okkervil River - Lost Coastlines
Saboteurs, The - Salute Your Solution
Shearwater - The Snow Leopard

Hang on, so you kept listening AFTER Pretty Fly For A White Guy by the Offspring won it?

Wasnt that the only number 1 not to be put on the compilation CD. Purely and simply because every bastard was sick of hearing it?
