The bike may well be cursed..... We move onto the wheels Friday night, half the point of this was doing it with the lad. Here mate you do one tyre I'll do the other. He's put on approx bugger all tyres and I've done 100's so as expected I get mine on first. How'd you go mate as I look smugly on. Bit hard? OK I'll give ya a hand. Hmm, this is tight. No wonder he couldn't put the bloody thing on it was the hardest tyre I've ever dealt with. My fingers were blistered up from trying to get the bead on, I'd broken 2 pretty decent levers and it was humid and hot in the shed on a Friday night - I didn't even have a beer as I was taking him to Basket Ball (9:30 game too boot). Ended up getting frustrated and got the moto spoon lever out Well turns out that was a big mistake, get the last of the bead over the rim and I hear a 'crack' the kind of crack that sounds expensive <it was at this moment he knew he fucked up>Look at expectant man-child towering over me. Lets call it a nigh mate, we shall sort the rest on the weekend.
I LOVE working on bikes some times......
Right screw this mate lets deal with it tomorrow - I'll take you to BBall.
Early next morning before the lad was up as I was feeling guilty for damaging his bike I get into the shed and take the tyre off (Even that was bloody hard). I'd cracked a section of the rim out near the hole for the spoke, but it wasn't 'that' bad, obviously not ideal. Took the old rim tape off, got the roll of tape out and put the bloody stupid tyre back and got a different spare one I had hanging around - that went on (Still pretty tight but OK). Surprisingly the rest of the build went OK taught my son a few things and we got it finished.
Been raining all day so I tell the lad to have quick test ride up the road and back - he comes back in 30 secs, he's done a wheelie, come off the back and hyper extended his ankle and now his limping....... Cursed I tells ya!!!
