What did you do TO / WITH / FOR your bike today!

Went to bed in the discs on the new roadie. Chain slipped off and got wedged between chain ring and frame. Had to use a lot of force to get it unstuck and scrapped some paint off the frame. Continued bedding in. Chain slipped again. Rather than do damage to the frame I walked it home (luckily pretty close) and took the entire chain ring/crank set off to free the chain. After removal it turns out my initial effort has actually caused damage to the carbon

Now waiting to hear back from the bike shop

The lesson is: don't buy road bikes...
Poorly set up limit screws?

Purchased some parts to resurrect this old home made beast into a commuter. It does have some limitations though unfortunately...

Rigid fork, new rear wheel and some other bits and pieces ordered.

Thankfully Hope to the rescue with end cap compatibility, 135 X 12 and needed to get it built onto a 26 inch rim. Just missed with clearance for 27.5 unfortunately.

Seat post is 26.8mm, so no dropper and a little head tube, so I can't run a tapered fork. I did get a rigid 29er, 15mm X 100mm, straight steerer fork from Ali that I'll be running with 27.5 to start with, so hopefully it won't implode!

Back in it's glory days... It also raced 4X and DH nationals at Stromlo in about 2007, albeit in a slightly different configuration to this.

Eye infection so I'm stuck inside and had to Zwift. It's far too sweaty for that shit.

Also packed up the road bike with frame damage so it can be collected by courier for return and replacement tomorrow. Bikes Online have been fantastic with their support and communication.

Mixed day yesterday!
Had an awesome ride, but ended up putting my full face to proper use.
Very luck as it was a hot day and I almost didn't wear it.

Fun earlier on the ride.
Redhill on the enduro bike
Last run I dropped the front tyre off the side if a steep shoot, which squarely dumped me on my left hand then full Penguin slide to the bottom.
Ripped visor off and my goggles, but luckily only a minor mark on my face where the goggle dug in. Proframe did its job!
Hand is a little worse for wear but doesn't seem anything major at this stage.

Ohh, so my boss has been watching videos of you!

We came back from Christmas and he was all "welcome back CG, good to see you're alive after your extreme sport holiday"

So after having a really crap ride the other week at my local trail, which seems to have more ups than downs, that put me out for a couple of days, I went out with my mate on Saturday morning and had a really good ride, him not so much.

The ride felt good and for parts of it I had the motor off completely off, leaving it all up to me, the rest of the ride was in basic or eco mode which has minimal assistance and according to my bike computer if I kept riding with zero assistance I could get over 4,000 kilometres out of the battery, some how I don’t think my computer knows me very well.

One of my all time favourite rides. Finally got Yvonne to do it solo last Thursday.
Yeah, it's a great ride if you like a good cross-country ride with some great descending.

Nice work. I look forward to seeing this 4000km ride. ;)

Skills park @ Ourimbah. Mainly focused on the drops ; managed to do the "big" line so for me pretty wrapped.

Jumps not so good, wasn't feeling it.

Finished up on Rollercoaster which was pretty cool. You need to know the trail as there are some cool bits you need to hold speed for. Will attempt the blind rock roll/drop near the end one day.

This park really needs some information at the trail head. There is literally nothing. Dudes - go to Narooma ; see the big signs with trail maps and descriptions with trail ratings. Not that hard. Lucky I spoke to a friendly local who helped me out.

Unfortunately, Ourimbah has never had much in the way of wider community or landholder support so, until that changes, it's never going to have those sort of resources. I'm constantly amazed it's still going even after all this time...which is a true professional credit to its trail fairies.

DHF on the front?

Couple of rides (not as many as I'd like)

Managed to check out Mogo - unfortunately my day slotted for a decent ride #2 son binned if first run (MoFlow) washed out the front and I had to carry him out, thankfully not broken leg but a bloody good corkie (How much fun is carrying a 75kg 6'3" manchild to a trailhead?) Did manage to get another ride there with Wife and Daughter, but we stuck to Greens. 11 Y/O did an awesome job. I did like the MoGo trails (well that ones I saw) climb trails were well built and you seem to climb more than it feels. I think I would have benefited a chat with a local first to pick some trails. Will be keen to ride them some more.

Also checked out Creswick - focused on G set of trails (assume Gravity trails) climb trail not as good at Mogo but not bad and the other I managed to do were a lot of fun - only criticism is the blue jump trail G9 doesn't seem like a blue Jump trail to me. I think after riding it a few time I'd 'get' it, I'm not great on jump trails TBH but can get through most - this one seem to require prior knowledge of it to nail and once off the track it was really hard to gain speed. I found the G3 jumps much better. Didn't check out the black jumps after that but ran the black tech which TBH is more my thing anyway, a bit of fun if not quite as techy as I'd like. Ran out of puff so only did gravity trails but keen to check out the rest as well.

Hats off to the bloke at Creswick complaining about the state of the trails and how he couldn't get grip who was also riding an old school XC bike with slicks. I wonder if one of those things had to do with the other :D

This is the most awkward trail at Creswick. It's like most of the jumps have been built backwards, mellow take off with silly steep and short landings.

The black G1 is easier to ride and flows a lot better. Out of the blue jump trails, G3 is easily the best pick.
