What did you do TO / WITH / FOR your bike today!

Rode the Carbonda last night after finally installing my favourite brakes, was a short ride as I was/am battling some shifting issues (bitsa drive train; sunshine cassette, deore derailleur, sunrace shifter), I think it mostly stems from chain being too short.

Going to rectify that tonight and see how it goes.

Such a good looking frame / bike. How you finding it? Pretty well made etc?

Yeah it's pretty good. It's a pretty solid frame.

I've finally got it cockpit/feeling wise similar to the Smuggler. Previously everything was just a little off. Was a short ride but it definitely feels more "right" whereas before it was just off.

Geo-wise it's pretty close to my Smuggler, main thing is CS length which is 15mm (I think) longer. Which makes cornering feel like cheating.

@Asininedrivel - it's burly AF for a carbon frame. I think it was ~3kg without shock, but surprisingly it's pleasantly supple in ride feel. I thought the bearings were a bit unprotected, and they got pretty gritty feeling after a wet ride - but I think John rotated them or something and they were okay?

I started the resurrection build for my nearly 20 year old home made hardtail, for a commuter.

27.5 just missed fitting by about 15mm, so new cheap(ish) 26 wheel built up. Carbon fork from Ali (🤞☠️) and whatever other bits I have lying around the garage. Should hopefully be done in the next week or so. It's a shame I don't have some of the original bits it was built with back then like the 150mm Marzocchi 66 and the Aussie, Aireal Industries hubs.

9/10 needs its own thread. And more IPA. And dragons.

But to be honest, they felt nice and smooth anyway.

Got the all clear from the surgeon yesterday to get back on the bike.

Only the roadie but nice to turn the legs over a bit and get out around the Canning River for a bit and get in a few small jumps. Felt weird with left leg not contributing much.

Good to see you back out there mate! LMK when you're back offroad and we can catch-up

One of my favourite beers.
Great spot for a pint too. Better if I didn't have the kids in tow.

That must be the OG hard core hardtail especially if you built it yourself, please start a thread or at least post more in the vintage thread on it.

Did my big-arse gravel ride along the Victorian rail trail on Wednesday (or most of it). Getting to the start point was easier than i thought (thanks Vline), but the ride itself wasn't a lot of fun. The wind was ridiculous and it never felt like I was making any headway after about the first 20km. The climbs are also deceptive as it never really looked like the trail was going up, but then you realise you've been steadily climbing for 4-5kms.
Somehow managed to get a flat about 10 km from Mansfield (how do you get a flat with a 2.5" mtb tyre on a gravel trail?) and so chucked a tube in. That went flat about a k later so I binned the whole thing and called in the support vehicle :)
Turns out you should probably update your padded shorts more than once every 6 years or so, felt like I was sitting on a rock all day
It really wasn't a fun day in the saddle

Fixing a friend's bike today.

I had to investigate a cracking noise that happens when the rear shock goes through its travel.
I suspected shot bearings, and most were very crunchy, one was completely shattered. The linkarm is a bit fucked from being ridden with a shattered bearing for so long.

It's for the friend's kid, who probably won't ride it much. What could go wrong? 🫣
