This one I do ride mtb trails on - it's much lighter and more nimble though I suppose most mtb purists would lump them both into the same basket.

I think you'd find that most MTB riders on this forum wouldn't be overly impressed to have you fanging past them on their local trails on this thing. There's nothing purist about this attitude, what you're presenting just isn't mountain biking. Perhaps there's a place for underpowered motorbikes somewhere, with its own set of rules and trail networks, but there's no way it can co-exist with a sport that is already established around bikes without motors.

I'm sure Poodles chased you out of here last time, but yeah mate and I'm sure you do trail care on public trails hah!
That vid I put up of someone ripping up trails and going at dangerous speeds where one would never expect, seems to be entered by you.
You're living up to every bit of my expectations.

That's NOT a mountain bike and should NEVER be ridden on mountain bike trails...
Combined bike and rider weight is 100kg.
It's using mtb tyres
The throttle curve is so gentle that even mashing full throttle off the line won't break traction.
Before you say it's too fast, even though it's capable of higher speeds in wide open spaces I can't ride it any faster through twisty stuff than a half fit rider (and infact I often pull off to the side and let them past when I'm just out for a casual ride and they're on a mission)
I dont have trouble sleeping at night.

you cry foul suggesting this forum isn't open to discussing things like adults.
Sorry I guess I got distracted with you linking one insult laden sentence with the next.

I haven't spent twenty three years slaving away creating and sharing amazing trails for twatsacks like you and your kin to come along and ride it like that
Ride it like what ? You think I'm going to happen across your super amazing trails and start chucking skids ?!
I should point out that one part in the vid where I skid it was a council dumping ground for soil/rubble.

unless you want a mattock up the back of your head Tracy, I'd suggest you pipe down and stop ranting about your shitbox bike
Wow, so you care so much about where you pedal your bicycle you'd threaten murder ? That's.. ah... dedication...

The only time I ever overtake other riders is on an uphill segment, and only if the track opens up to be wide enough for say 3 bikes (I wouldn't try and overtake anyone unless on a wide open trail). And I never fang past people - I call out that I'm coming past, then move past slowly, typically with a lighthearted "man that's cheating!" or "can I get a tow" and continue on my way, maybe increasing speed once I'm well in front. Zooming around people who can't hear or see you coming is stupid, though I don't doubt there's assholes out there who do it.

That vid I put up of someone ripping up trails and going at dangerous speeds where one would never expect, seems to be entered by you.
Yeah, you get downhill speeds on the flat with an ebike. If the track is straight or open enough to see further ahead then yeah, I go a bit faster sometimes. But any trail with any sort of fragility isn't going to allow me to ride any faster than you, and on wider trails that aren't so fragile I'm not riding any faster than I can safely see ahead to brake. And as above I dont ride fast past people coming up from behind. I agree that particular vid was fast, and part of that is in the editing but if you look at my other single track videos you'll see I'm only ever going fast on wide open trails and on tight stuff I'm actually quite slow.

Fortunately I've never experienced any of the hate on the trails that instantly comes up from certain people on this forum. Maybe it's because I don't ride like the dick that everyone seems to be convinced that I am. It actually amuses me that half the time people I chat to on the trials don't realise the bike is electric until they've looked it up and down a few times. Some don't realise at all, especially when we're casually pedaling past each other.

I just want to say e-bikes are stupid and should be banned from most trails (unless needed due to physical restrictions).
If they get ant sort of foothold we are going to have guys like this Hyeana bikes guy ripping up the manly dam track, hooning around kentlyn etc. ruining it for us all.
Call me a snob but I don't want to mix or be lumped in with the dirt bike demographic!

It must be a trait of owners of bikes like that thing to act like total fucking cocks. You've said in one breath that you don't ride one version of your motorized scooter on trails but then in the next you say you ride another version of it on trails AND THEN you cry foul suggesting this forum isn't open to discussing things like adults. Its a ah, it's a mountain bike website champ and you are stirring the hornets nest and pissing me off especially. I sound like the grumpy old know-it-all here but kindly fuck off. I haven't spent twenty three years slaving away creating and sharing amazing trails for twatsacks like you and your kin to come along and ride it like that. Regardless of the video's age, you'd still do it so unless you want a mattock up the back of your head Tracy, I'd suggest you pipe down and stop ranting about your shitbox bike

1) Doesn't it suck when people like this go out of their way to try and make your life difficult when you're minding your own business and just want to get out and ride some trails...

2) How does that happen ? Are you tearing past pedestrians in motorbike like fashion ?

3) Heh funny you should say that, I took this photo on the weekend of my mini trail fairy assistants helping me build some new trails and jumps.
Sorry it also contains imagery of a monstrous ebike (primarily used for riding fire trails and on properties with dirt bikes)

1) I'm not one for being too worried, most of what I ride is off the grid. However it does make trouble for clubs and associations that pour countless hours of volunteering into gaining access to land, building and maintaining trails, and organising community events on those lands. So for them it's kind of a real big "fuck you" when brainless fucktards rock up and wreck their shit.

2) people are people. I once had a moron on a horse yell at me about riding my motor bike on a trail in an area where horses are prohibited...shit! One time a park ranger thought I was on a motor bike because I'm such a trail boss...I tend to run a fairly loud rear hub. While you and I and probably everyone else on this forum would know the difference, plenty of others don't when in a panic. One of my ride locations gets a lot of walker and runner traffic, they use trails marked for bikes and when they get startled by said bikes they react.

3) those kids must move a lot of dirt and build some quality shit. Your rear tyre looks pretty slick, must come loose awful easy?

The proper pedal assist bikes seem to be ok but high powered throttled ones no way. I know of two blokes with low powered pedal assist at my local trails and just about every time they are in the carpark someone is putting crap on them. Even on the trails in ride groups someone always says something, may not be abusive to them directly but something is said within our group.

You can see how easy it is to rip a trail up in one go with the power the bike had when it was doing donuts and it's perceived to me like you're ripping at a very fast speed in and out of blind corners, just look at all the dust it left behind, speeding up a vid doesn't make that much dust occur.

Nope I dont ride that one on mtb trials. I'm not in denial that it's essentially an electric dirt bike (albeit half the weight and less destructive to the trails than even a the smallest 125)

Wow that vid is from the archives - 6 years ago! Obviously that's not an average outing and just a collection of high speed/hooning clips. I can find you an old video of me doing burnouts too but that's not how I drive to work, or drop my kids at school or 99.9% of other times I'm behind the wheel. But whatever, it sounds like there's no civil discussion to be had here and you've made up your mind, Tracy Grimshaw.
I trawled through your you tube channel a while ago...shit bikes, shit rider, shit music. If it wasn't for all the shits and giggles I would've been pretty bored. I cant believe you've been able to scrape together any form of commerce from it, so I must congratulate you on any form of positive outcome that has arrived.

Some of us just never get to meet new people on the trail, a shame as it seems these sort of dickwads only meet the meek.

1) CONFIRMED! At that weight you must have a pretty small cock. I feel sorry for you.

2) skids are fucked. They are a plague in the bike scene, thrust upon us by fame thirsty pros needing an ego boost, copied by nongs, and perpetrated by noobs. So much good trail destroyed by people that can't or won't brake properly regardless of their acceleration methods. Mr K...you're a bad man. Ummmm...ride like what? Ride in a fashion depicted and implied in your published collection of works, which I believe it best phrased as "rode like a dickhead". Also some of my favourite trails are in an old tip. It really sucks when you discover your digging in the medical waste section.

3) like that video where you zoom up kn the cops and pretend you're on a pedal bike?

4) because you'd be an expert on trail construction now? Judging by your evidence I'd suggest you take reference from someone that knows rather than just wing it.

5) well some of us base that judgement on the way you have presented yourself,so it looks like your reputation for being a shit burger is going to stick. It's best you only meet light hearted people on the trails, the grumpy as fuck arseholes among us can be hostile and quite rude at times.

Yes it does.

Fuck me! I Cant believe this thread won't die already. Next time someone revives it can't they just be referred to the ebike forum the Hyena and his buddies hang out with each other on?

This forum thread won't die until e(motor)bikes are well and truly banned on public land mtb trails.
Just a week ago saw a stealth abomination (or was it a hyena) at Lystie. Saw a specialised ebike riding charlottes down at red hill two weeks ago, and just last Saturday specialised has ebikes for test rides at Lystie.
I generally just boo and hiss when I see them around.

Now that all major brands are producing ebikes I'd guess they may be here to stay. The only bridge left to cross for the marketing gurus is to make ebikes look no different to normal bikes.

Unless we can stop them being sold or imported looks like we might need to live with them. What would make their existence acceptable? Their riders doing trail work? Power limits? Pedal assist only with speed cut outs? Cops to police these things like they do with trail bike riders? On the spot recycling of ebikes that aren't compliant?

These things would bee acceptable on trails, anything else is a motorbike and needs registration imho.

Yep, you're a snob.
I alternate between my ebikes, dirt bike and supersport motorcycle. If it's got 2 wheels it's all good in my books. There's lots of places I won't take my dirt bike (it's only for farm and state forest riding), a number of places I won't take my big ebike but virtually nowhere I won't take my smaller ebike. I could do more damage skidding around like a noob on a kmart bike if I wanted to so I sleep soundly knowing how and where I ride it I'm doing no damage.

Your pedals seem like they're just for decoration...
Granted the bike can go faster than I can pedal but I also have a schlumpf drive so I can pedal alot at much higher speeds than any other mountain bike would allow. They're not cheap so I wouldn't invest that sort of cash if I wasn't going to pedal. Again with a throttle you determine how hard or easy you have to work. Sometimes I take it easy, sometimes I pedal my arse off. As much as my health will allow anyway.
I don't like to play the health card because I was an ebike advocate even before that, but now I can't ride anything other than totally flat ground without issues so if it wasn't for electric assistance I wouldn't be able to ride trails any more. I have a shagged heart and lungs courtesy of chemo and radiotherapy and if my HR gets much about 150 I get dizzy then shortly after pass out. I nearly dropped on a fire trail the other night because I pushed too hard. And this was on the big beast of a bike that has all of the kilowatts. So yeah, I pedal.

Your rear tyre looks pretty slick, must come loose awful easy?
Yeah it's pretty much only for use on dirt roads and fire trails / state forests.

You can see how easy it is to rip a trail up in one go with the power the bike had when it was doing donuts
Yeah you could rip a trail up if you wanted to. But why would I want to do that ?? I enjoy riding trials just as much as the next person, I don't want to wreck them.

and it's perceived to me like you're ripping at a very fast speed in and out of blind corners, just look at all the dust it left behind, speeding up a vid doesn't make that much dust occur.
Yeah that was played up for that particular clip but as I said I don't tear into blind corners. I dont want a head on any more than you do! And the dust thing, that was just a particularly dry dusty day/patch. Most of the time there's no noticeable dust kicked up.
The action in these videos shouldn't be taken as a serious indication of all things ebike any more than all the mountain bike videos out there of guys doing insane redbull downhill courses or any number of other mountain bike vids that show people shredding trails in spectacular fashion.

I cant believe you've been able to scrape together any form of commerce from it, so I must congratulate you on any form of positive outcome that has arrived.
I mainly make the vids for my own fun but I guess there's a small following of a few thousand subscribers. I build bikes as a hobby, it's certainly not my day job!

It's best you only meet light hearted people on the trails, the grumpy as fuck arseholes among us can be hostile and quite rude at times.
I hadn't noticed. haha

I generally just boo and hiss when I see them around.
Geez mate, you're going to end up hurting someones feelings one day!

Now that all major brands are producing ebikes I'd guess they may be here to stay
I'm quite sure they are. It's evolution and it's unavoidable, which is all the more amusing to hear those who are hardcore against it all.

Fuck me! I Cant believe this thread won't die already.
Yeah I'd forgotten about it until I got the email notification someone had bumped it up.
I'll be on my way now.
