Merry fucking Xmas to you assholes
E-bike specific chain lube is now available:

https://www.pushys.com.au/finish-line-e-bike-chain-lube-120ml.html

Further details:

"e-Bikes can generate upwards of 960 watts of instantaneous and sustainable power output. This, in turn, places specific demands on the drivetrain which soar way above and beyond anything previously seen on traditional bicycles. In order to keep your e-bike in tip-top condition it is crucial that it be serviced with a lubricant which will not only withstand the high torque associated with electric assist drivetrains, but will shed dirt, prevent premature wear, and provide superior protection against rust and corrosion."

"Adhering to e-Bike manufacturer specifications and using all of the latest technology at their disposal, Finish Line have bottled a wet-style lube, with water repelling polymers, which excels in adverse conditions."

I generate 1.2kw most mornings heading up King St in the Sydney CBD. Muc off dry and rock and roll work just fine.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up. Do they freewheel?
I think they all freewheel
Given that they use normal rear hubs, yes they freewheel like any unassisted, non-fixie bike. What is different is that when you backpedal only the crank spins backward, not the whole drivetrain, due to the clutchy sort of engagement between the drive unit and crank spindle, and chainring mounted to the spindle, not the crank.

By extension, when you're using the walk assist function, make sure your legs are clear of the crank, because it will smack you in the shin as it pedals itself if you're not careful!

E-bikes are huge in Europe , at present we are only seeing a very small representation . This e-magazine ( hahahahaha see what i did there ) has braod cross section . its not all big manufacturers .
The Bike Show that was on a couple of weeks ago was massive almost 40% was devoted to E-Tech .

I'm still torn , its new bike year and i think im gonna jump on an E-bike this time round .....now i'm 50 !

Hey man I'm 45 you are making me feel bad. I have several bikes so I don't think e bikes are necessarily a replacement - just something different. My Haibike is good fun though. Looking forward to some warmer weather and cruising into work again.

Hehehe , I’ve for “enough bikes “ according to my partner / wife / girlfriend / bosslady .
But - I want ......need a new one ?

So it’s new bike choices - mate has a Haibike and it’s pretty good , I really like the Focus Sam ,the new Trek powerfly has raised the bar .
However a Specialised Levo is prob where my head / heart comes together .
All versions of the above are reasonably priced for the spec and technology included .Not sure that the premium brands prices will drop - but the tech will defo get better esp battery .
And I think the tech from Eurobike will start to appear on and in our bike shops .
The e-bikes will also reinvigorate the standard bike shop model - I hope ......

Exciting times . Next 6-12 months will be interesting

Nah , Good shops are Good .

My feeling ( which may just be piss and wind ) is that due to the slightly more specialised nature of the e- platform the cream will rise to the top and be rewarded by a consistent satisfied customer base .
However at present as society we embrace shit service and support as being 'the way it is ' So the more lazy no fuck given rubbish shops continue to survive .
In my recent looking for a new bike ( which will cost as much as a vehicle ) whether requiring me to do all the work or assisted - I have met some true dickheads and arrogant cocks .

Any Push bike , Bicycle is not "Cheap" , most are at the upper end . I am not looking for a reach around , but would like a small fuck given .

Shit shops will still be Shit till they go broke .

Yep - we accept shit service all round. Our political leaders are the best example. Paid by and elected by us but they don't listen to anything we say. And we keep rewarding them at election time be re-electing.
