They’re very cavalier about collarbones it seems and very reluctant to do surgery. Which I get, if shoulder function ends up fine I don’t care about the bump. But I’ve had enough experience with the problems of ligaments damage and hip function to be very bloody nervous. Think I need to fork out for a specialist and a second opinion.
Hang on, I'm feeling like this is Deja Vu. So they are no better than QLD public really then. That's why we made the decision early on to just pay.

More I’m looking into it I don’t think PHI would have done it either. It’s just not considered bad enough to warrant surgery and hence it would be elective and not covered.

Going to talk to my physio next to see what the implications might be. But can’t do anything for another 6 weeks of the sling....

Yes, but unfortunately what they deem as acceptable and what we deem acceptable seem to be poles apart. I hear you though. PHI would have covered fuck all anyway. But at least the hospital would have been covered. That's was the biggest bill for us. MBTA should cover a good chunk of that though. My wife is 6 weeks since surgery this weekend coming and she's been on the trainer for 5 weeks. Good luck, but don't muck around. My advice is if the physio suggests surgery then just do it.

If it’s causing problems, then it should be done under the public system I think. The trick will be convincing them it’s needed... if it’s not needed I’ll just see how it goes. Plenty of people out there functioning just fine with a not perfectly aligned clavicle.

So my collarbone set with about a 30 degree angle... And that's within their acceptable limits apparently. So now I have another 6 weeks in a sling and a long wait to see if I get shoulder dysfunction from the effective shortening of the clavicle. And if so, surgery to re break it and put metal in... Fuck.
Mine is about that from memory. Moto accident. I still have trouble, 10 years later, with a few yoga poses but SFA else really. I wanted plate too but had other breaks as well so was advised against pursuing it at the time even with top PHI.

My neighbour had an infection after getting a clavicle done in the public system, he's lost 80% movement on his shoulder, so maybe that's why they're reluctant to do them.

A significantly shortened collar bone has played havoc with my shoulder after dislocating it 6 months ago. Hitting trees about 8 weeks ago with both shoulders, good shoulder took the first impact, bad shoulder the second. Good shoulder was fine 5 minutes later and could keep riding, bad shoulder had me wondering if I should go find street fentanyl weeks and weeks later, couldn’t sleep. Broke that collar bone 24 years ago.

If our boarders had stayed closed, we would probably not have had our borders closed!

Are you saying you have never enjoyed the pleasures of an open boarder?

The bored boarder boarded across the border past the shops with the boarded windows and the old borehole field where the wild boars roam.
