hi,
my name is john and I just git into downhill, I was amazed to find how many of my friends are also in to it.
I got a kona stinky supreme that i put together with a mix of new and 2nd hand parts and I'm looking forward to putting it to use on the trail.
I would like to compete in the future but for now learning how to stay out of the bushes will have to do.
I live on the northern beaches and my bike is my main form of transport, 1 hour and 10 minuet ride to and from tafe.
I'm looking forward to being a member of rotorburn and ill see you out there:D.

Hello from sunny Cairns

Kev here. Have been loving riding mountain bikes for a long time but a bit new to the whole forum thing. Rotorburn seems to be the goto place for sharing ideas and info on all things mtb and for buying/selling so it's about time I jumped on board. Currently riding a cannondale prophet which has been the best bike I've owned so far. The quest for the "perfect" bike never ends though. Like the idea of the 29er but they are still very new to the market. Love going to new places with my mountain bike. Went to Rotarua last year and loved it so much going back later this year. What beautifully constructed tracks! Keep the rubber side down and have fun.

Hi guys n girls

Im Luke, living in Perth and just bought my 1st bike in over a decade. For my entire adulthood a strong drifting addiction has consumed my life and left me fat, poor and reeking of burnt rubber. time for a more healthy hobby :D

I just bought a norco bigfoot as I am very clueless and it seemed like a bike that could be used for most things I wanna do. Love the idea of jumping but also wanna do trails and just generally cruise around with mates.

I will endeavour to use the search function correctly, but may still ask some very silly questions and display a frightening lack of knowledge and/or intellect

Howdy

I have been back riding since January after about a 25 year break. I have grabbed an Azzurri flatbar and started riding a bit which turned into every day, then I bought a real roadie, stuck guards & rack/panniers on the flatbar and used it to ride to work (18kms each way), This has recently been replaced with a Lynskey Sportive (which makes people cry when they see the guards and racks on it), which is much nicer to ride.

I dragged my wife out on a few sunday mornings on a hire bike, she pretty much hated riding on the road/PSPs and some of the arrogance displayed by Cadel wannabes on roadies, but did not mind the riding. So when I wandered into a bike shop and saw a L and an S in the Dale RZ140 going for an absolute song I went home, googled em, showed her, she dragged me down the shop and we took em out for a test ride, pretty much knew she was hooked after she bunny hopped the first kerb. After I coated the one I was riding in dirt, I could not take my one back without buying it.

So I now have six bikes in the garage ;-)

We are planning on doing a basic MTB skills course in a couple of weeks, then we will need to find some decent XC rides near Perth. Not sure how much use the roadie is going to get, cos the Dale is just so much fun.

Hi all,

I just joined up as I need to learn a bit more about bikes. I'm getting to the point where my bike (the first one that I ever bought with my own money... well apart from that one that I only had for about a week because it turned out to be a stolen one) is really needing some repair, or possibly replacement. It's a tough choice - it's not a particularly great bike, and the cost of the repairs it is going to require in the near future will potentially rival the value of the bike. But, I have grown attached to it - it's been with me as I started to really enjoy riding over the last few years, and we've been on some fun adventures together, so getting a new one would take some getting used to. Anyway, there is a lot of info on Rotorburn, so I'm going to go poke around and see what I can find.

Hello!

Hi all!

I'm new here, just got into riding at the start of the year. Doing a bit of all-mountain riding, leaning towards freeride and some DH. Just bought my first "serious" bike, 2010 Giant Reign X1. Going to be riding some trails in the local area, Lysterfield, Officer, Upper Beaconsfield etc. Probably be heading up to Buller and the You Yangs in a few months with mates as well. Might see some of you guys around :)

Cheers,
Kris.

Hiya, I'm a newbie. Been riding since last year, mostly at Lysterfield or Youies. Have been on some great riding trips to Buller, Rotorua, Cairns, will never go on a holiday again without my bike! The flights seem to have messed with my brakes though, so now I'm developing my mechanic skills. I'm rebuilding an old Kula that's been sitting around, before I take on our real bikes. See you round the trails.

Hi all, I am a newbie to the sight I have been riding for a couple of years mainly trail riding with a bit of commuting. I am looking to get into a bit of all mountain riding with a mate of mine who stupidly gave me a ride on his specialized enduro elite and I instantly wanted one :)
Really enjoying looking through the forum.

Hi everyone,

Im getting back into mountain biking after a bit of a stint away doing the kid raising thing.
Ive owned a few bikes and raced cross country here in SA for a few years for fun and even got a place in a down hill event in Willunga on my avanti hard tail. I lived in the UK for 5 years and did some great riding over ther in the new forest and the South Downs and also some tours of Ireland and through the snow in Germany, Belgium and Amsterdam. Ive got a Rocklobster back here now that I bought in the UK but its getting a bit old and needs a bit of a rebuild which is an expensive exercise so I may buy something new. Its the first steel bike Ive had and I love it to bits...the little bit of flex you get is quite addictive.

Im now looking to get back into a bit of racing and the like and Iam interested in the 29er concept but have not ridden one yet.

Look forward to chatting to you all as I start visiting this site a bit.

Cheers

Tim
