Tell me about riding in Bright

Tassie trails win Australia hand's down
Its our favourite place on this planet !
We are 10 weeks out from a 3 week holiday, my boys are peaking with excitement.
Just don't bother with Scottsdale hospital.
Drive back to Lonny.
Tasmanian health care is still in the 1970s

Was only a deep flesh wound, they were awesome and gave us extra dressings, we then went to the Scottsdale chemist and bought $50-$70 worth... cant remember exactly. They were absolute legends... Dont know how they go with serious injuries but Scottsdale Hosp came up with the goods !

Broke 2 bones in my hand and large open wound, they stitched it up with dirt still inside. Needed to be opened up and cleaned out afterwards, infection had gotten hold.
Needed to be pinned also.
Ended up at Dandenong plastics and hand surgery. The staff were great at Scottsdale, perhaps the Doctor on the day, not so much.
I had the impression he was an overseas Doctor trying to get his residency/visa as I could tell English was not his first language.

Same happened me ~10yrs ago, gashed my leg open on shale during one of my first night rides. A young Pakistani doc with a pure English accent gave it a wipe and stuck 9 stitches in it. 3 days later in excruciating pain, my leg was twice the size and squirting puss out between the stitches.
Plastic surgeon opened it, cleaned out dirt, little pieces of wood and rock. 1 week in hospital, IV antibiotics everyday and pumped full of endone. The wound had to heal open as it couldn't be stitched again... was a shit experience indeed.

You porn star.

I guess I was lucky my bones needed pins as I didn't have to wait a week, only a few days, and it was ok to stitch up.
So much depends on the Doctor you end up with.

Yeah unfortunately Australia never trained enough medical students in the 80-90s and in its enthusiasm for more doctors 5-20 yrs ago ,madly imported lots of doctors some of whom were not up to standard .
the govt thought they would boost rural numbers but many drifted to the big cities.
At the time I went on the media calling it reverse foreign aid because Australia got these doctors for free and poor countries "trained "them.
Its alleged that corruption is rampant in some Asian medical schools eg cheating + bribery.
This is the result .
They are keen to stitch stuff cos it pays well whereas basic wound care doesnt.
