If it’s spinning freely, yep.@Oddjob @Ultra Lord thanks for the tips, used an old tyre lever that had smooth edges, would you say this is seated properly?View attachment 361719
No promises...but I think it should. It doesn't seem there is much difference if any in oil volume between the older and newer xt brakes in my collection. Will this SLX caliper fit straight to my existing M785 lever with standard M785 hose fittings?

Yeah, should be compatible lever to caliper performance wise. More concerned about different style/diameter banjo etc.No promises...but I think it should. It doesn't seem there is much difference if any in oil volume between the older and newer xt brakes in my collection.
I could be wrong, but I think that caliper is from shimano's flirtation with no banjo. The connection being similar to the way your caliper connects.Yeah, should be compatible lever to caliper performance wise. More concerned about different style/diameter banjo etc.
Capt. Shimano has signalled aye so I shall proceed forth into the unknown ...
That’s my understanding. I’m really wondering if the caliper end fitting of the M785 will be a direct swap into that newer SLX caliper? All Shimano hydro brake levers & calipers are interchangeable.
All the photos are from the wrong side, but it looks to be a banjo to me. Banjos may vary with year models? If I’m up for a hose kit also then I may as well just buy a full set with lever. Was hoping to just swap the dodgy caliper.I could be wrong, but I think that caliper is from shimano's flirtation with no banjo. The connection being similar to the way your caliper connects.
Some of the four-pots used a differnt banjo, but all the banjo-connected two-pots use the same one.
That does sound familiar. My 3 sets were black on top.I thought 888’s only had black stanchions then?
Nope, I’m wrong...but googling, not seeing THAT colour.I thought 888’s only had black stanchions then?
