What did you do TO / WITH / FOR your bike today!

I was informed by a mate of mine this morning that you can't see my tail light on my bike very well, as it is attached around the collar of the dropper post. It sits a bit low and with the mudguard attached you it definitely gets blocked.
I always thought this might be the case so I designed a 3D printed mount that attaches to my seat rails and should hold any light that is designed to clamp around a seat post/seat tube.

Once it's printed (on the work 3D printer) I'll see how it fits.

Last night put a more stealth stem on the (bad haircut) Smuggler, and also the 27.5 front wheel to turn it back into a Scoggler (Smout?). The lower "shorter" front end has resulted in a more balanced front to rear feel, though I think I need to source a 160mm airshaft as the 67° head angle in this configuration is a tad too steep I think.

Rode it this morning and had a bit of an explore of a mini "freeride" compound I stumbled upon a few weeks ago walking the doggos.

Oh yeah 🤦‍♂️ I also changed the bars.

These are Spank Spoon 780mm, 10° backsweep and 60mm rise. Need to cut them down I think as with the grips they are 800mm wide.

I'm liking the extra backsweep.

You lost me now! I don't want no back sweep. But I love the high rise life! Well not yet...but I have me some 50mm rise bars to put on the ibis so I can escape the flattish bar life.

All been there, why am I doing this. This should be fun, coulda stayed on the couch.
Heh heh I was at this point on Saturday morning when I had to decide between the short loop or the slightly longer one, All my rides are comeback rides ATM. Just got back from a week away at new job, and thinking about how a couple of months off between jobs had helped me get back on the bike. Felt a bit weak but wanted more flowy downcountry pleasure so pushed on. Nearly crashed on a kind of jump feature which is a pile of gravel/dirt at a turn off from fire road to bike trail. Trying to hit it faster ended with both wheels sliding in the corner just before it, going up a bit off line and rolling down on the front wheel with one foot off the pedals almost sending me over the bars. Finished the ride without any more 'moments' but plenty of fun far outweighing the lure of the couch.

That evening found some 165mm XT cranks on bikeinn and ordered successfully.

Yesterday found a Float X shock on FB marketplace to try the Long travel mod and listened to a Downtime podcast featuring the Outbound lights bloke.

Last couple of summers I've had thoughts.of night riding but haven't done anything about sorting out some lights. Had a look at the website, looks.like good gear but of course they cost a bit.

*Had changed my stem from a 40mm to 35 mm and maybe that contributed to some slidey moments in corners, did it after a couple of weeks no riding, so before/after impressions are vague. Seems to have eased the weight on my hands a bit however I might need a bit more finesse going into çorners rather than the shove it technique I've developed

My brother runs Outbound lights and has nothing but good things to say about them.

Don’t have to spend a fortune. I started with these and they’re good enough: https://www.mtbdirect.com.au/produc...-mount-neoprene-case-1?variant=40684375867437

Need 2 lights, one for the bike and one for the helmet. My first ride I only had one and it wasn’t pleasant.

Sadly, a tear in the interior , right knee meniscus has me off the bikes.
Best I could do was to do a bearing replacement on a set of DT Swiss XM481.

I did that a few years ago, lateral meniscus tear had a bit flapping around and limiting me to 15-20km rides before the pain was too much. They cut the flap off and it was better than new.

Thanks Ozzy, having a sook about it, my life is over blah blah ..........................
Booked to see a specialist later this month.

Booked to see a specialist later this month.

After I did it, the pain was uncomfortable for a week or two then it got better while waiting for the Arthroscopy. I was managing up to 20km of smooth riding, some hills but no jank. All the specialist and surgeon faffing took about 6 weeks and I walked out of the Hosp after the op, a few weeks later I was good again.
Just joining the faff again myself, an incident with a twisted lift of a concrete sleeper on Friday past was given an xray and ultrasound this morning, Doc rooms phoned about midday and got me in to discuss. Distal Bicep Tendon rupture with 2.5cm retraction. aka Pulled the bicep muscle off the forearm bone 😔
