Agreed.
The quiet failsafe drivetrain in the forest is awesome.
32x16 is the gear most people suggest as a starting point.
I run 32x15 all the time and raced with that in the 50km at dirtworks which was perfect.
Gonna try 32x16 at Mogo I think.
Give the SS a go you'll love it!
My Council Clean up Rig.
My junkyard SS leading out the gearies at my local dirt crit.
Frame off the council cleanup, wheels and cranks from the spares box.
This is an older photo it now has new bars stem and V brakes(didn't trust the old cantis for the hills of dirtworks.)
In or Out
I heard this morning the entries were sold out. I just checked out wild horizons and was able to enter no drama. Does that mean I'm an extra that may miss out or am i in?
I went with 32x15 on my full rigid at dirtworks 50k which worked out to be a good choice, but for Appin I reckon the 16 would be a safer bet. Lots of rocky pinches.
Rode it yesdy arvo with tjb and GUmp.
It's awesome!
Very rocky very techy!
It'll be a good workout for 8hrs, team or solo.
Passing could prove quite tricky as it's mainly tight single.
Who's SSing on sunday?
I'm definitley going soft and reverting to gears and dually for this outing!
Well that was a bit of fun.
The 50k for me.
The 32x15 gear of choice proved to be just adequate to hang on with the lads on the 10 or so km's of road at the start. Still coughing up the dust!
The hill was a pleasure to run up pushing my chro-mo SS as opposed those heavy geared duallies...
