Course Preview - Mount Annan

After attending a working bee a couple of weeks ago on the new Stage 3 trail at Mount Annan, naturally followed by a ride, we're excited about the course for next weekend's SRAM Singletrack Mind Series! Check out their Facebook page for some pics of the trail.

Be the first to ride the new trail and also star in our preview video for SRAM Singletrack Mind Series Round 5! We're seeking a small group to join us for a ride this Sunday at midday, registration is essential as the trail is not yet officially open. Send us an email to register your interest.

Round 5 is looking like being a huge event with entries coming in thick and fast! All the event info is now available on the website, come along early for course practice then Cinema Under the Stars on the Saturday! Looking forward to catching up with all you singletrackers on 17 & 18 September!

Cheers

No maggie - there's a plus. No rain - there's another plus!

Thoroughly spent after a day in the sun, dust and heat. The cool change helped keep things manageable.

Great organisation as usual from the Chocolate Foot crew. Sad to see the St John and Ambulance having a bit of use today.

The extension to the loop was soft in parts and quite a challenge, especially towards the end of the race.

I have a lot to learn about how to go fast around off camber corners. Just can't seem to manage it. This, for me anyway, is the toughest course of the series so far. Couldn't seem to get a decent rhythm going. Anyone else have problems with this course?

Yes it was great to work with Mt Annan, a very professional organisation plus with two static St John Ambulance sites, and our mobile marshals, we were never in doubt that the fallen riders would be well cared for. Not to mention all the riders that stopped to give assistance - big props to them all.

Thanks to everyone who made today's race great! More from us soon but for now, preliminary results are here.

Cheers

fun course, but..

had a blast until I impaled my leg on a tree on the rock between two trees a few K's in just after the rocky climb, ghastly thing to look at when you can see your bone and tendons with bits of bark and dirt all mixed up in your leg :-( the riders that stopped were great, one made a bandage with a rag he had in his pack and the marshals, ranger and ambos were awesome.

thanks to the guys that packed up my tent and helped get my gear to the road.

only complaint is that the course official that was also there, knew about the broken branch on the tree that I hit (it was sticking out onto the track) and probably could have saved the day and marked it/cut it off earlier? yes I know it's mountain biking (it has it's risks) but this was perhaps a duty of care issue and bound to happen?? I'm not suggesting they bubble wrap all the trees but this was akin to a spear sticking out into the track.. nah I'm just pissed that I didn't finish and now have to waste the day going under and having my leg cut open and the rest of the tree removed and bugger it I'm off the bike for a while :-(

And there will be more to come when the story to be shown on SBS Cycling Central is edited and Dave Bateman has finished cropping, polishing and selecting his finest frames to be uploaded to the Chocolate Foot Gallery. Here's a taste!

If you have written a blog or shot some cool piccies then add them to the list.

Thanks again to all the riders, supporters, volunteers and sponsors, we've been receiving loads of positive feedback for which we are very appreciative!

Cheers, Joe.

Yep, took a few laps to get things sorted.

Swapped to a shorter stem, then back to a longer stem, then lowered the stem - still couldn't get the front to feel right.
Finally dropped a bunch of pressure from the forks and everything snapped into place and felt great for all parts of the track.

Great event, great track, tougher than I expected but that's good.

Little video I made of the race on the weekend. There wasn't many people riding SS and it was pretty tough.

Great job on the video Garry, had me reliving the fun parts all over again!.

For sure, I was on 32x18 on the 29er and found those uphill switchbacks soooo draining. I will be switching to something easier before next time out up there!

Singletrack Mind on the TV!

Hey all

Just a heads up that the SRAM Singletrack Mind Series will be featured on today's Cycling Central programme on SBS One, at 5pm. At least that's one hour of today when you won't mind that it's raining ;-)

Cheers

Round 6 Rydal - Preview video

And here's The Cat himself! Not content with 15 seconds of national TV exposure, he now stars in the below video. Too much Cat is never enough!

Entries close this Wednesday night 19 Oct, race day is Sunday 23 Oct. Great track, great club and great venue with a pub very nearby! We reckon this will be, as Lithgow events always are, totally tops! Check it out on the video.

Remember The Annan !!

I can see everybody is getting G'd up for Lidsdale, but since it took me at least 4 weeks forget the rock gardens/make the video - I thought now might be a good time to finish my Mt Annan video. Can never have too much singletrack (video)... enjoy.
