Any Zwifters out there?

I think you have to mix up what you're doing on zwift.

Lately I've found it too easy to just roll around in zone 2 and still have good base but struggle with zone 3-4 work.
Wat Acko said. I don't think you've hit peak Zwift, I think you've hit peak plateau.

Or you're actually overloaded and you're not recovering properly. 6-8 hours extra is actually a shit-tonne extra.

Big gains are real easy in the first 6 months, but keep in mind the highly trained Pros are happy with a 2% increase year on year.
Yeah, that could be the problem. I do B pacer rides, climb portal and B races, so I mainly hit ‘sweet spot’ and above. I think I might need to do less intensity maybe? And perhaps not ride a couple of days a week.

I've not looked into polarised training, but what I've been hearing about it, it could work for you.

The key to all of it is not going too hard. Do enough to make your body adapt to the higher load, but not so much that it can't. My early days using adaptive training on Trainer Road felt like I was doing absolutely nothing, but after a few weeks of load I started to notice the difference.

You may have also reached your own physiological peak.

eg the best your own body will do without a super special regime of some sort

Well, I fucked up my Z2 ride today. I just seem to go full retard when there is someone in front of me. This time it was the ‘Tour of Watopia’ group ride. I’m starting to think staring at numbers on a head unit might be a better option…

There are good YouTube videos explaining how to accurately determine your actual Zone 2.... I find the arbitrarily assigned bins are incorrect and my upper Z2 (which is where the magic happens) is well into "Zwift Z3"

I just seem to go full retard

23km in 34 minutes... Z2 🤣

Make up a custom workout and run in ergo.

Even with this 2hr+ Z2 workout made, 160w was pushing me into Z3, so use the +/- button to reduce the intensity and keep yourself in Z2, in reality, mine was about 145w.

Oh. It's an anniversary return to the original zwift loop. In that case, I'm not so upset. This might not add much, but it is a nice touch for completionists.

Yeah its an nostalgia addition really....
I hope that the programmers didn't spend too much time on that cut scene.
You assume that creating the actual road/island would have been a cut and paste from the old model

Mind changed. Did the Deca Dash for stage 5 of the Tour of Watopia, this morning. It was an absolute hoot.

10 laps, started out just cruising along in about 120th place. But when the lead bunch lapped me on lap 3, I got a bit of white line fever.

What followed was a hectic heap of fun, getting lapped, lapping people, drafting various bunches. All the while playing a game of cat and mouse with my original riding companions, particularly a German, a Belgian, and a Dutchman.

Finished 80th of 177, but most importantly ahead of SR, my primary German protagonist, and the Belgian.

For our little race within a race, the Dutchman Geerts took the victory bickies, smoking my weary arse on the final kom.

A great fun route for a race, if you have a big field.

This really highlights to me just how differently my mind works to other's. I wish Zwift had a single-player mode. I mostly dislike having all the other riders on screen. I can kind of handle it when just out rolling around the maps if it's not too densely populated, but often I would much rather just cruise along at look at the (digital) scenery. Sometimes it's enough to tempt me to draft or overtake someone, but generally I just find it's a distraction from trying to roll along at whatever pace/zone/wattage I'm trying to target. Digital racing is my idea of hell. I find more joy in just doing/completing a task, than trying to rank myself against others. I get why other brains get a buzz out of it, but it just doesn't tickle my synapses... 🤷‍♂️

(Regardless, kudos - it sounds like you had fun, and that's all I really hope for anyone getting out - or staying in - for a ride. Ride on! 👍)
