I can tell you that the owners of Buller have been to Whistler a few times to see what goes on in summer at Whistler. I think they are too busy living it up over there.
BSL obviously has no direction from their parent company Grollo Group. They have $1 billion development in Coburg they are doing - how about taking a little of the profits from that and developing Buller as a centre 365 days a year? Build it and they will come I have heard people say - but they are too busy shooting from the hip and not looking long term. I don't think they have an idea where to start.
They should just put the shutters up at the gate for summer or really invest for the long term. One or the other.

I just spotted this on bike buller website (and now I see that mirimbah is on this thread :) )

This summer, check out the Mirimbah Bike Shuttle, a mountain bike shuttle service that operates to ferry riders from Mirimbah (at the base of Mt Buller) up to the Mt Buller Village. The shuttle service is available Saturdays and Sundays from 26 December until Easter, and makes three runs up Mt Buller each day (call for times). Special times can be arranged for group bookings. Cost is $13 for a single run or $30 for three runs. For further information, contact the Mirimbah Store on 03 5777 5529 or enquiries@mirimbah.com.au.
Just FYI for anyone that didnt know. Im keen to checkout klingsporn this year so taking the AM bike up for shuttles top to bottom could be fun.

Mirimbah how many people and what sort of price are we looking at to do a group booking? And could you just shuttle the DH tracks (not all the way down the mountain)?

The DH tracks are serviced by the Horse Hill chairlift so you don't need to shuttle them :)

In regard to the Mirimbah shuttle - they're now also doing a shuttle to Mt Stirling. I suppose that would be for the River Spur trail but I'm not sure if there are other tracks. Here's something from Mt Buller Website

Get Into The Mountain Bike Action At Mt Buller and Mt Stirling This Summer!

Finally the solution to getting back up the Base of Mt.Buller/ Stirling.

We are already excited about the Summer and can't wait until the Mountain Bike Season begins.... This year we are running the Shuttle every weekend from Boxing Day until Easter Long Weekend...

Also in the pipeline is an extension on our service to include Mt Stirling with a run at 2.00pm from Mirimbah to Telephone Box, along the Bluff Spur Trail to the Bluff Spur Hut (pending MBRMB Approval).

The new service to Mt Stirling will mean you can experience both Mountains over the weekend....Our shuttle service will be running from Mirimbah to the Buller Summit 3 times a day, and Mt Stirling once a day.

It means you get plenty of choice and an easy ride up which ever mountain you choose.

So make a date in your diary and start planning your summer escape to buller, and the region. It has something for everyone....

SUMMER SCHEDULE

Extra Shuttles can be organised on request if needed with suitable numbers.

no you couldn't shuttle the dh tracks as they end in a gully - at the 'mid station' of the horse hill chair. Unless ofcourse you could use the access road used by parks but not likely. Klingsporn is a fun ride, dunno if i'd spend a day shuttling it though.. But a day doing the area, buller and stirling, that sounds like a great day!!

finally buller have got us on there web site that only took 1 year of us operating. the run up to stirling drops you off onto circuit road for river spur just gives you a diferent ride into the spur. its just something we wanted to try and see how it works. not really the trail we had planned but we didnt get the permits we were trying for to get to the top of stirling. through a looked gate accsess. but will try again for next summer and see how it goes.
but four shuttles running this year 9am being the first one 5.30 the last and running till easter ( longer if the call is there) and next summer hopefully an earlier start possible the 1 dec.
hope to see a few of you here off the mountain after christmas and lets hope santa brings us all new toys( i promise ive been good santa)

Hey guys Ive been to buller many times before to ride and I'm there again January 16 with a group of 20 mates and I just wanted to confirm the horse hill chair lift prices. I was sure that it was $51 this year but I just wanted to make sure. So my question is, has the price gone up again or is it still $51?

Thanks a lot.

GO buller!!!
buller is my home dh tracks and this season i have been tearing it up on my gt chucker2 its a hardtail but its still so much better than mt major. the buller crews this year havn't put as much money into it this year but it isstill great fun. the tracks undergo season long patch ups and makes the tracks heaps more fun to ride. today i went up and on my sixth run, on abom just after the 2nd berm i got a flat:( but i went down to altitude and they fixed me up with a new inner tube in under five minutes:D the service in the lodges and chalets are obviously not going to be as good as all the money is around in winter.......... its never gonna be as good with out comps(take the hint sam, nick, danger) but its aawesome when i rock up and there is five peeps riding. if your going to stay and ride for six days or more get a seasons pass its cheaper by.2287581698% dont believe me work it out for yourself.........MIDGETS AWAY!!!

Massive thumbs up to these guys above. We took a crew of about 36 people to Buller on Melbourne Cup long weekend... whilst we weren't expecting the lifts to be open, we mainly rode the XC trails, and a few epics out to Craigs hut and back.
However thanks to the awesome shuttle service from Mirimbah, we were able to to Klingsporn, and River Spur twice in the one day... whilst it way VERY tiring it was well worth it, and extremly good value, OH and a great coffee and pie.

Get there and support the guys at Mirimbah, because whilst Grollo dont' seem to care, these guys do.

Guys I have to say, I was up there last weekend and was really impressed with the work the guys have been doing. Sure the tracks are pretty rough but I can tell you that the guys working there are working their butts off and actually the tracks aren't as blown out as they usually are. If you get the chance, head up for a ride. There's still a chairlift, there's still braking bumps everywhere, you still get crazy arm pump on Abom and you still have to work hard to get good flow at the top of inter. Plus there are some good new additions here and there. Worth the $51 I reckon...

After going to thredbo the other day buller is clearly doing the summer thing wrong.
Thredbo was packed with people, most local businesses where open and in full operation, almost every chain on the lift had people on it, car parks where full. Clearly with a bit off effort summer can still be a big earner too.

That said i like buller better, i like the tracks better, theres is more than one track, you can easerly get a park and its more quiet. Although being quiet isnt really profitable.

Yeah, I went up just last week after going to Thredbo.

The thredbo tracks don't need to be maintained as much as the buller tracks so im sure they have a lot less work. As being said thredbo has alot more open. Their many places to get food not just one and their is many more up in the village that are really nice if you make the effort to get up there.

Chairlift closure Tuesday 12th January.

Due to the impending catastrophic fire danger forecast for Tuesday 12th the Horsehill chair and associated DH tracks will be closed.

Also whilst I'm at the keyboard a note to all that both the Klingsporn and the Riverspur trails have both had a major clean and 'buff'. Thanks to the ARMB, the DSE and a bunch of Buller and Mansfield locals these trails are now in the best conditions I have ridden them in the last few years. Combined with the super convienient shuttle service they are two great reasons to head on up to Buller and take a ride.

Was up riding at Buller about 3 weeks ago now. There had been some good work done on klingsbourne in terms of trail clearing. should be even better now as I think it was only half done when we were up there. Took a 4WD to the top of stirling and rode back down from the top in the 4WD trail which was a great high speed run with lots of water banks to launch off, links into riverspur trail to provide a wicked long run. highly recommended if you can find a mate who will drive you to the top.

Lift trails were also in pretty good nick with the armb guys working on the trails throughout the day.
