What did you do TO / WITH / FOR your bike today!

Mr Crudley

Glock in your sock
With new rubber too. Maxxis Arsegay on the from and Maxxis Minion Super Sketchy on the back. So fun. Like a mullet, serious at the front party at the back. Newish track at Smithfield called Pipeline. Stupid fun.
Got through that fine and fell off (I'm old... had a fall?) 50 metres from the car. Fucked my hand and my knee.
Sorry to hear you had an off. Blame it on way too much traction from new rubber, or something......

I was just looking at the tyres in your awesome photo.
Curious about ArseyGuy...

Are your wheel sizes reverse mullet?... Or just camera illusion/my old eyes?

WFH LTR ... Working From Home, Lunch Time Ride ... fan fricken tastic. We went to Lysty, did a lap, perfect weather, perfect trails. Only saw one bike, while bombing down Dog Pound, and it was an ancient old guy, maybe 75, on an ebike, riding ultra slow up Humping Hound. Good on him, a perfect application for an eBizzo.

Been running the assegai on my bigger bike for a while now. Great as a downhill / aggressive enduro tyre, ploughs through rock gardens and grips well in wet. Have tried it on a variety of terrain and it works well. Pretty hefty though and strangely the exo (1045g) is heavier than the exo+ (1022g), (I bought one of each), also it does roll a bit slower, so unless you're pointing it down a hill expect some more pedaling, I guess it depends what tyre you came from.

I'm guessing the exo you're running on the front is MaxxGrip and rear Exo+ is MaxTerra? I believe MaxxGrip weighs more than MaxTerra. ie the jump in weight from MT to MG is greater than EXO to EXO+

Nope they're both 3c Maxx Terra, same size, identical except for the exo sticker.
Manufacturing tolerances maybe?

Well I'm stumped ... the Maxxis website says there should only a 45g difference between the two ... which is a smaller difference than I would've imagined

Wife went out for a girls night last night. Kids in bed A.E.A.P.
Pour 3 fingers of Laphroaig, head down to the Man Bunker, turn on the workshop Stezza.

Unpacked my freshly serviced dropper post which came back in the mail yesterday.
(The guys at Cyclingo Hobart are awesome & fixed it under warranty N.Q.A. - and sent it back to me fast)

Trimmed up the ratty cable end with my piece-of-shit-never-buy-Kinchrome-you-fuckwit cable cutters.
Whispered sweet thank you's to Kona for building a mostly externally routed bike.
Treated myself to new cable ties and slightly better cable management strategy.
Dropper now goes up & down like a Meerkat on Meth.

Poured more whisky because it makes me smarter.

Popped the rear tyre off the rim to top up the sealant. Removed skin from knuckles. Twice. Swore. Almost snapped tyre lever & detached ligament from bone.
More whisky, got smarter. Added sealant to front tyre thru valve stem like I should have. Much easier.

Noticed whisky is gone & stereo much louder than when I started.
Stand there for a minute staring at my bike like a 14 year old watching porn for the first time. True Love.

All set for a pre-organised afternoon ride today. Super keen - it's been a few weeks.
Wake up this morning to pissing rain, wind & ambients colder than a polar bears' nuts.
Righto, back to Rotorburn then.

You're on a Process? I think, yes? If so, is the dropper the one that came with the bike?

Mine got sticky for the last bit, the dropper that is, so then I Slickoleum-ed it, all good, but now it's gone sticky again.

Yeah it's the TranzX 170mm....came stock with the bike. My original plan was to sell it off & buy a better one....but decided to run with it because the internet said they were pretty good.

It recently started coming up a little slow. It wasn't always completing the last 10mm and I had to help it up a few times.
When I put my shock pump on it the air readings were quite strange - it would show decent pressure if I pumped it up a little but the air pressure made no difference whatsoever to the action, force required or return speed. If I re-attached my pump it would read zero pressure even when it was still working OK.

I coulda ordered a new cartridge or just disassembled & re-lubed.....but I thought, fuck it. I paid a lot of money for this bike less than 12 months ago. I want this fixed. Cyclingo to the rescue for no charge :)

Did you buy your bike at Yarra Valley Cycles?
They are excellent people & will likely service/replace yours if you think it's terminal??

Yep, I bought it at YVC, and it's due its first free service, so I'll mention it then. And yeah, mine isn't always completing the last 25mm or so, and I have to help it up. Other than that, and a BB that intermittently creaks, I sure do love the bike. I know it is more bike than I need for 90% of the time, but I feel so much better on it, in the 10% of knarlyness. At my age, crashing needs to become a thing of the past.

How did they feel in terms of sidewall and tread area thickness etc.? Was the + version noticeably different in any way?
They felt identical which is why I weighed them, was excepting the exo+ to be noticeably heavier and stiffer in the sidewalls.

Also rode more Bright today, Elevation has had some improvements done to the very top section, hero is being redone at the top, and there is a sweet handcut enduro decent being built. Rode the lower half of it should be good once complete.

Where will this new trail start and finish?
