Bargain buys thread

@ozzybmx USE (Ultimate Sports Engineering) is the brand of shim I'm using.

I have a few Muqzi here from Ali that work alright, 100mm long with the collar.

Just checked and of course the 31.9-30.6 reducers are gone, just leaving 30.9-27.2, reckon I might have used it on the post you sold me @shiny

Posts ordered

Possibly not helpful or related to anything ( however that is the farkin/rotorburn way )
i has been on a jaunt to New Zealand - it is lovely , friendly low population in the South Island and clean - as in not much litter - there where some weird cooker types but all good hahaha

so my point - it looking for a high quality brand name mtb , Santa Cruz ,pivot, jamis , ibis etc ( cargo bike to explore ? ) the deals in Nelson made me pause for thought and go. ‘Wow”
Fly in , buy bike , ride for days , go home with ‘ trail tested ‘ bike

cycle infrastructure is pretty good - and we saw a lot of gravel burner , bike packing on everything from a old school steel framed Apollo to hard core downhill full downhill set ups.
Were many of em !

As I am out of touch, it was nice to wander thru bike shops , that had a ll the gear and range and were happy to ‘ no judge , how can I help ? ‘ with actual interest .

And I have never seen so many Santa Cruz bikes been used as commuters , shop runners - and e- bikes are definitely a thing !

We are in Wanaka for a couple of days after 3 weeks of bush walking. Head back to Tassie Thursday. I second all @rextheute has said! No riding on this trip but already planning our return. Some local's on a path we were walking along the lake told us there is now a ride from Golden Bay in the north to Tuatapere on the south. Even a truck load of trails inside the Wanaka township.

Can add that Gravity Nelson is a great shop. Really helpful service and cheap rates for getting stuff fixed. About a 10 minute ride from there to the start of the trails facing the SE of Nelson too.

2019 Santa Cruz Hightower for $2k in large

As sad as it is when a store closes there’s some bargains, especially if you need Giant specific parts or you need some kit.
Maybe a COTFW coming soon; as I purchased a light made for Giant e-commuter that I need to install, apparently plug and play but that hasn’t stopped me before from stuffing something easy up.

Not bad

Also; needed a refill:

I paid less than that for the larger pot!

I'm not sure that this isn't going to become a CftFW but I figured if I take one of you fine folk with me then I can feel a little bit better...

Anyway, I have purchased via eBay what the seller (Le Tour Sports/Giro Australia/KB Trading) in Melbourne claims to be a workshop box of 25 x KMC X10.83 chains (assuming no quick links) for $50 and $10 postage.

eBay says there's three items left...

It's only a CFTFW thread post if you didn't want 10 speed chains. ;)

Or when a $5 chain fails and he ends up with a $2k dental bill.
but it wasn't manufactured to that price point originally, I guess.
@ozzy do you use quicklinks or drive a fresh pin through the ends of a chain to connect it?
If anything, I would have thought it would be the quicklink failing if it hadn't been installed correctly, or it had been used a few times and was supposed to be single use only.

Found these! S-Works Pathfinder 700x42c.

$90 + $10 shipping so a saving of $80 over the normal price.

This is the first S-Works thing I've ever owned and my first step to becoming a total wanker :D

Apparently Specialized are bringing in a new range in January (from what the online chat let slip!)

I might join you in the CftFW thread...
