Ya same, I've been sticking to bike trails and rail trails for years, requires a bit of driving to get to them, which is paradoxical, because I am riding for fitness and stress relief, but I'd rather not die.^^^^ that's pretty ugly, like the comments
They've beaten me, roadie is for the trainer now, on the road just aint worth it
I hate to admit the fact, but I am with freediver. You are a fucken dipshit. Learn road rules you dickhead.Fact remains: I Hate Road Cyclists!
It was a shared path with pedestrians. Which makes that driver even more of a moron.Correct me if I'm wrong - and I'm not trying to make excuses for that dickhead driver's aggressive, dangerous behaviour - but isn't there a perfectly good bike lane right there, that these guys were choosing not to ride in?
To flesh that answer out a bit more - you're required to ride on dedicated bike paths "if practical", but no such requirement for exists for shared paths. Therefore no illegal acts were occurring. It was a shared path with pedestrians. Which makes that driver even more of a moron.

I was more referring to the possibility of hitting a pedestrian at speed while yelling at the cyclists. To flesh that answer out a bit more - you're required to ride on dedicated bike paths "if practical", but no such requirement for exists for shared paths. Therefore no illegal acts were occurring.
As a reasonably regular cyclist who mostly uses shared paths with other pedestrians, lives along a very popular shared path, and often takes small kids riding along said path; shared paths are not suitable for people who want to ride fast. If I'm in a hurry I choose to ride the road (or just before going on holiday the not yet in use light rail line...what a great cycleway!). By the look of their kit those guys were likely wanting a bit of a faster ride and have chosen to use the road.Correct me if I'm wrong - and I'm not trying to make excuses for that dickhead driver's aggressive, dangerous behaviour - but isn't there a perfectly good bike lane right there, that these guys were choosing not to ride in?
Were you part of the East German track cycling team per chance ?LTIH: While accelerating hard off the lights up a short hill on my way into the city, I suddenly stepped on nothing and went arse over apex. Turns out that my Shimano Ultegra cassette has let a single cog go, rotating independent of the rest of the cassette. This has happened to me once before, and I have never heard of it happening to someone else. I am really pissed off, it's as bad as a chain breaking but far less understandable because of how well reinforced that area is. How have Shimano's standards fallen so low? They used to make absoutely bombproof gear.
I agree some road cyclists should use the road, around the lake in Canberra certain people treat it like a velodrome with verbal abuse directed at Children especially on a Saturday morning. Not putting all the road cyclists in one basket as its only a few bad eggs which do this, and I usually note the bike and riders gear just incase. As a reasonably regular cyclist who mostly uses shared paths with other pedestrians, lives along a very popular shared path, and often takes small kids riding along said path; shared paths are not suitable for people who want to ride fast. Have you ridden along there lately? The shared path along Coro Dr can be stupidly dangerous. Bikes going way too fast. Pedestrians all over the place like bovines and kids stopping and jumping around like kids do. In that type of path serious riders should be on the road though I wouldnt want to ride around the guts of Brisbane.
